I'm sure this appeals to some fans, but it just weighs on me. I'm buying an Iacon Package so I can have my Scorponok, but want none of the others. They will be eBay bound.
As the original creator of Devcon... I would be happy to take it off your hands!

Welcome to Seibertron.com, Michael!
The episodes you worked on in the original Transformers cartoon series are among some of my favorites. Starscream's Brigade is easily in my top 5 episodes and Gambler (Devcon's lone episode) has to be in my top 10. Great character. He should've gotten some love a long time ago!
Thanks, Henry!

Actually, that was Seibertron welcoming you. Not that I wouldn't, but he's the one who typed it out.![]()
So, I take the thanks, but be sure to thank him too.
I wouldn't necessarily say that. A few other one-off, single-appearance characters have received official toys over the years. There's still hope for Devcon.LeSamourai wrote:However, I think it is unlikely that we will ever see an official Hasbro version. Maybe because of Devcon's one and only appearance in the series (sorry... that's my fault as I certainly had plenty of opportunities to bring him back) or maybe because Devcon was never an official Hasbro character in the toy line.

I think it may show some degradation now...
1-Classics
2-Henkei
3-Nemesis
4-Ultra Magnus
5-Translucent
6-Shattered Glass
7-Ginrai....
did I left any version out?

It's FunPub. It's their specialty.

What's more is that, Devcon has come close to having a BotCon toy of his own twice before, so this figure is even more of a long time coming beyond his appearance in "The Gambler".![]()
These were the previous two attempts to make a toy for him:
A recolor of Beast Machines Mirage
A recolor of Energon Slugslinger with a new head:
As cool as those two look (and I do like the first one), I think this new one takes the cake, being the closest to his cartoon look.
He's also had a few comic book appearances.LeSamourai wrote:Thanks, Sabrblade... I wasn't aware of any of the previous attempts you mentioned. So it would seem that Devcon has been getting some "love" before now.

The first time was in the 2001-2003 Transformers: The Wreckers (later retitled Transformers Universe: Featuring the Wreckers) BotCon comic series, in which he was a semi-major character beginning with the second issue:
In the third issue, he reverted back to his original body since he decided he no longer had any use for his newer body (and picked up a lady bot at a bar):
Here's his profile art from that series:
And in 2003, he made a cameo appearance in the background of one of Dreamwave's Generation 1 comic issues:
A few other non-G1 series have come up with their own counterpart versions of Devcon as well.LeSamourai wrote:Damn... I had no idea. I am pleased to know that he continues to be alive and well!

Transformers Animated, the 2008-2009 TV cartoon, had its own version of Devcon who, while he himself didn't appear onscreen in the show, was a member of a martial arts clan called the Cyber-Ninja Corps, and was represented by a hologram bust of his head that was on display among many others in a dojo:
^ He's the third one from the left.
In the third live action movie, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, there was a generic Decepticon who was based on the monster from the movie Cloverfield. Though this Decepticon had no name and no personality (aside from "DESTROY, KILL, RAAARGH!") within the movie itself, production concept art for this thing reveals that a working name for it was "Devcon". But since it looks virtually nothing like G1 Devcon, consider this just a recycled name rather than a tribute.![]()
And, recently, Japan has been creating a series of online mini-comics for the construction-based Kre-O toys, in which one comic had a Kre-O version of Devcon briefly appear:
Most of this came from the following:LeSamourai wrote:Wow... again, I had no idea that Devcon continued to exist. Thanks for the info and for researching/sharing the posts... I am suitably impressed!

No problem! Glad to have you onboard. Out of curiosity, has anyone from BotCon approached you about attending the event? It'd be pretty cool to have the creator of Devcon there at the event since we're finally getting a Devcon toy.

Most likely. But not regarding this situation.
Seriously, I was just saying you might get something going with Pete and end up at BotCon as a guest or something.
