I think this is a great idea.

Scalpel from the mantis Micron in white won't ever stop being a great idea.

I love the face on Megatron. I'm glad that his head didn't end up too small on that body too.

Literally my only complaint with Megatron is that his face should have been scarred. That aside I'd be happy to make him my Classics Megatron (or I would if I had the budget). Not sure I'd give him all those Microns but that's OK, all the more for the rest of my 'cons.

I like the Boss, and wouldn't mind having more like him, but I can't say I'm not disappointed. Didn't they say that this set would top last year's? I hope this isn't what they were referring to when they said that.

The Microns are cool though, so I'll give them that.

Right now they'r banking most everything in the box set on oilmaster, a double pretender with two robots inside a shell. Outside of that, I suspect the pollybag sets are going to where it it's at.

While I wasn't a fan of the movies... or their toys... I will say I do REALLY like the head sculpt. I think it nailed exactly what they were shooting for. Plus it does exactly what I want to do every time I close my eyes... whitewash the bad movie faces with slightly more G1 versions. Bravo for retconning what movie's toady megatron into something I can be proud of.

BattleTrap should have been a main line release, as a Voyager case-filler when the movie comes out next year so new molds aren't swamped under the inevitable movie-verse tsunami.

I can agree with you there battle trap should have been released as a main line figure but we might be lucky and get a main line release with some remolded parts later on like they did with the seekers and coneheads. But that is a big hopefully though.

Im actually shocked people are liking this. Slap a Megatron head on any old body just for the sake of having a team leader in the set. Wss there really no past character that actually resembles the Breakdown mold that could have been homaged ? I dont see how this set is supposed to top Scorponok...

I wonder if it still has silas, or if they just put silas breakdown's chromed bumper on the war breakdown version of the mold. In any case, this looks awesome, but I think it would have looked better in a different colorscheme. maybe some kind of blue color with silver, white, or grey...

Yeah, as much as they hyped up there being something "better than Scorponok" this year, I can only rationalize whatever it is that it's gonna be "better" in terms of it being something more expensive, ambitious, advanced, or complex than what was done to make Scorponok, rather than it being something that most fans would legitimately prefer over Scorponok.

I don't mind the lack of Silas inside this mold. Megatron don't need no puny fleshlings in his tummy, and that gives it one more unique aspect of the mold being the Silas version with the regular version's inner chest.

If it's this Oil character, I will literally be put to sleep... the only way to top Scorponok is to repaint that mold into a slavish BW Scorponok with a new head.
