I'd say the former since, unlike Groove (who we can be sure was all Takara's idea), when Takara first showed their UW version of Sling, its head was already done rather than still in the unpainted gray prototype stage. This tells me that it was developed around the same time as the heads of the other Aerialbots rather than later, strongly suggesting that the headsculpts of Quickslinger and Brake-Neck were pretooled by Hasbro rather than later developments initiated by Takara. After all, Hasbro's Brake-Neck did come out long before Takara's Wildrider did.william-james88 wrote:Do you believe Hasbro always inended on eventually releasing Quicklisnger and Brakeneck or do you think they only did so after the fan outrage from realizing Takara was giving us the proper G1 teams?

Short simple one off question:
I just got AM 30 Arms Micron Rumble. And he comes with some bonus stickers, one of them is half of Soundwave's face. I dont know where or even if I should place it anywhere. Where did you guys place it?
Examples:

Transformers Arms Micron Rumble Gallery

In light of the conversation had between myself and Ryan in the last podcast episode's thread, I raise this inquiry to the rest of the podcast:
Does the medium in which a story is presented matter that much to you? Whether it's a show on TV, a physical comic book, a movie in the theater, a physical novel, a digital comic book, a digital prose work, a video game, a video on the Internet, a physical artbook/reference book, etc. etc. If the writing itself is of a good quality, with a good story and good characters, and if you have a capable imagination to mentally visualize the events of stories presented in media that are light on illustrations, does the format in which a story is presented to you matter that much to you?

First off, I just want to say ScottyP that I actually never thought of Silly Putty when I came up with my username.
Anyhow my question is: Which stores in your areas seem to get the latest Combiner Wars and Generations Transformers sooner?
In my area of Texas, Target and Walmart seem to be 50/50, and I do not have a ToysRUs nearby. Since Walmart's Christmas clearout, I went to Walmart the other day and the only Transformers they had there were 1 CW Battle Core Optimus, and 1 RiD minicon sitting randomly in a pile of Minecraft things.

If you could only choose one version of each CW/Unite Warriors combiner, which would it be?
Like for Superion, would you chooe between Hasbro or Takara
What about for Defensor, ect ect.

Apologies if this one has been asked, or talked about before on the podcast, but I wanted to get other people's opinions.
Within the last 2 years there's been a general trend of the Generations Line to revolve around a unifying theme or gimmick:
In Combiner wars, this was obviously the ability to form a Gestalt robot and was inclusive for all classes save for the occasional Legend, and the leader class figures.
Late this year we'll be getting titans return which so far operates under the same theme, only now with head/god/power/target/titan masters; and to some degree, base modes or vehicle modes which extend the play pattern.
This has even been seen this year to start to encompass the RID line with it's use of mini-cons, deployers and characters which split into armour for other figures.
Being that Combiner Wars, Titans Return, and the rumoured upcoming Earth Wars line afterwards are part of what Hasbro is calling the 'Prime Wars Trilogy' (eat your heart out George Lucas) it could reasonably be inferred that this is a trend that is set to continue for the foreseeable future.
Do you feel that this trend is a welcome addition to the transformers toyline (e.g. if it means we'll see some character that otherwise would've been avoided) or that the trend is problematic for any reasons? (e.g. characters who may be overlooked for certain lines where there are still 'gaps' to fill, like Broadside, Topspin & Twintwist, several G1 season 1 & 2 'legends' size characters. Or that characters will get figures with new intrusive gimmicks, which could mean they're sidelined for a future version of the character in toy form which is more thematically consistent with its original incarnation.)

My most recent list is about the worst TF toys ever made and I was wondering what the podcast members thought was their worst TF toy (or which one they think is the worst, they dont need to own it).

Anyone know what'll come after Titan Wars? so far we've had or getting Combiner Wars & Headmasters? so if this is some sort of Prime Trilogy or something? then what's the last part gonna focus on? Action Masters? Pretenders? or maybe something else?

To you, which of the following is at the core of the Transformers Brand?
Is it the toys, the tv shows, the movies, the characters, or something else?

At which point do you feel that over-complexity in order to achieve maximum animation model accuracy hurts a toy? Or (reversely) - are noticeable sacrifices to the robot and alt-mode acceptable if the transformation is good? (directed largely at how Masterpiece toys are done)

Any specific examples/MPs you have in mind (to help contextualize), or is it meant to be a more conceptual question?

It was Ironhide that started the chain of thought, but it led me back to thinking about MP09 and even MP01. So I guess the MP line in general. The Movie line strikes a chord there for me as well - for the same reasons (simplification vs complexity).

Relatively new podcast listener here, so I apologize if you fine podders have covered this before. I've heard you touch on it in a couple of episodes, but not cover it directly. Anywho....
For those of you with children, how has becoming a parent affected or changed you habits in this hobby of ours? How do you feel watching your kids discover the things we love so much?
Also, I just wanted to say thanks for the work you all do. I'm really enjoying the cast, and working back through the past episodes. It helps me get through the slow time at work.
You all sound like your be a great group to share a beer or 7 with!

Thanks man.
Oddly enough, this was a question I couldn't really speak to until recently. As a new parent, I have some thoughts to put down on this. For the moment, I'll just share this:

Are there particular characters you're tired of seeing being repainted into another character?
For example - mine is Soundwave and Blaster. The absolute worst offender of that duo is Cybertron Soundwave into Classics Blaster, in my opinion.

I know I'm asking a lot of questions, but you can just keep them in the bank until a dry spell come along
I just learnt that quite a few figures sometimes will be released with either the standard autobot logo or the movie autobot logo. Like Payload below. I wanted to know if this variant was common and if any of you paid attention to it. Is it so common that these wouldnt be called variants but simply factory errors (like smudged paint), or is there some credence to seeing these as (collectable) variants?

Would you even care which one you'd get? Which one do you have?

First off I'd like to say I really enjoy your podcast. I always get excited when I see it in my iTunes feed and I know that night/afternoon of homework will be a lot more enjoyable.
My question: With the possibility of the MP Beast Wars line continuing and the disappointment on the boards in Cheetor maybe being the next one, what would your ideal MP Beast Wars release schedule be for the Season 1 characters? Mine would probably go like this(Primal being the first, Rhinox being the last)-
Optimus Primal
Megatron
Dinobot
Terrorsaur
Tigatron
Blackarachnia
Airazor
Inferno
Cheetor
Scorponok
Tarantulus
Waspinator
Rattrap
Rhinox
