They are absolutely. I pre-ordered Ultra Magnus and Bumblebee almost a year before their respective releases.
Maybe the one after Star Saber will be something really cool that they wanna keep quiet about until the right time to reveal it.

Ducked home at lunch time (not that I've been doing it every day ...) to find a BIG box waiting for me with Bumblebee, Jetfire, Whirl, Roadbuster, Tankor and the big man himself!

Unfortunately I've had to come back to work. It's going to be a long afternoon ...

It went quickly.

However, I've decided that to truly appreciate Ultra Magnus I need to set time aside to do so. That won't be until the weekend.

For now though, I've busted out Tankor (great little figure!), Roadbuster (expected more) and Bumblebee (awesome engineering for a smaller figure).

The big box of Magnus sits there taunting me.

You can open now and have a mini appreciation and then at the weekend you can sit down for a full appreciation. That way you get 25% more appreciation for your money.

Burn I heard that some UM boxes don't contain Magnus, they mistakenly packaged the worker's lunch in them instead. They said people have 12 more hours to file for complaint to receive a new box guaranteed to contain Magnus.

Mine should be arriving soonish. Either Friday or Monday.

But no one seems to complain about Shockwave's very opposite personality in the comics, just like UM who was also bad@ss in Furman's tales (the old G1 UK comics I mean)

And in the show, there were instances when UM was indeed b@dass against Cyclonus in Season#3 and his ride to Glory death in Headmasters (the latter being another continuity I agree might not be applicable to what you inferred to).
