Japanese blogger Alfes 2010 has uploaded some very nice galleries of the recently released Takara CH-02 Chronicle Megatron two-pack. The set features a chrome free reissue G1 Megatron sans the silencer and stock accessories, and a DOTM Voyager Class Megatron with premium paint. He also has galleries of Chronicle Reissue Optimus Prime and Chronicle DOTM Deluxe Optimus Prime.

i think they should have made him a nice looking white

like how he is in the cartoon. even add in the red on his arm(just for more detail)
heck they did that with prime

and dotm megy does look nice though.

Wow, that's just sad. And he doesn't even come with his attachments, so you're not even getting a full G1 Megatron. The sword and bullets can't make up for it either IMO. :-(

Hmm, with Chronicles Bumblebee in the works, can't say a Starscream set would be too far fetched, could this be why they made him and Prime deluxes in DOTM! :shock:

You wouldn't think chrome would make that much of a difference on a figure. But, boy, does Megatron look boring with out it! The lack of accessories is also disappointing. Without the stock and the silencer, it isn't Megatron's alt mode.

And like that, I'm glad I passed on the set. DOTM Megs does look very nice, albeit destined for GPS.

I want that DOTM Voyager Megatron. I'm already making excuses up in my head to get this, such as 'G1 Megs is kinda anime coloured', 'I already have G1 Megs, so getting this wouldn't be such a betrayal for the lack of silencer/stock'.

Why the hell can't we just get the Premium Voyager?

the paint job on that DOTM megs is sexyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy (and I already LOVED that figure to begin with).

........... but oh man .. That G1 megs doesnt cut it for me .. This set isnt worth the $100+ price tag if the G1 megs paint job is lacking (especially considering you're not even getting a FULLY COMPLETE G1 megs with the stock etc.)

If this thing gets bumped to $70 or $80 .. MAYBE I'll buy it .. but it would only be purely for that DOTM megs..

my guess is that a deluxe starscream was made because they needed to have a starscream mass released in one of the three man size groups.. he's already had two voyagers, and last year he had a leader, so deluxe was next. though it could work out well for these chronicles sets.

When i first heard about the set ,i got really excited ,i don't have a G1 Megatron

,but now seeing it i don't know .Is it a cool set .....YES

,if you already have a G1 Megatron

is it a good repaint .....kind of :-?

Nice! G1 megs is packed in bot mode! So he's airport-security-safe when i go to Hong Kong... hope its cheaper there...

That G1 Megatron is whack. Not just the lack of chrome. The plastic color looks like a vintage one who's been poorly taken care of and UV damaged. Not to mention it looks cheap. I really am liking the DOTM Megatron but not enough to buy that pack.

Chronicles DOTM Megatron doesn't seem as impressive in-hand. It's still nice, but not quite as awe-worthy as I originally thought.

I'm oddly more impressed with the new G1 Megatron that homages the original Takara Megatron. I was initially bummed that they didn't keep the blue (which is the Megaplex version) but I didn't realize that they already did the blue VSX version original Takara Megatron version which was the e-Hobby 2003ish version called "Megaplex" (from Machine Wars). I also didn't realize I owned that version already as well. I have no idea when I bought it, I just vaguely remember buying it because it was an unchromed version and I got it for fairly cheap (around $60) at some comic convention. But I can't remember when (which is odd for me because I can usually tell you when and where I bought most of my Transformers ... especially significant characters).

Now that I've got the Chronicles version, the e-Hobby Megaplex, and the original, I visited Toynk.com today to buy the e-Hobby black Megatron today (their warehouse/store is only a few miles from my house). I picked it up for $65 so I can do this gallery right with comparison pictures of all four different versions of the G1 Megatron mold.

Off to work I go finishing up the Chronicles galleries and MP-10!

It's an homage of the original Takara G1 Megatron which didn't come with the U.N.C.L.E. extensions and didn't have the chrome.

Hm ... according to Heroic Decepticon's blog, I've got them backwards. The blue version (which later was reissued as Megaplex) was the original Takara Megatron and the VSX version. The red version, which was reissued in this Chronicles Megatron set, was the Goodbye Megatron version.
