It's an homage of the original Takara G1 Megatron which didn't come with the U.N.C.L.E. extensions and didn't have the chrome.

Hm ... according to Heroic Decepticon's blog, I've got them backwards. The blue version (which later was reissued as Megaplex) was the original Takara Megatron and the VSX version. The red version, which was reissued in this Chronicles Megatron set, was the Goodbye Megatron version.

Yea, the G1 is a slight travesty. I'll probably just leave it in gun mode if I do get it. Hopefully I can get one without the orange cap plastered into the barrel.

Pass, but not because of the paint job on G1 Megs, but because he's not complete. They should have put his barrel extension and stock int here with him, just as they should have put G1 Prime's trailer with him.... :sad:
