Hello guys, I don't know if you remember me but I appeared....a really long time ago and then got caught up in some personal matters. I really didn't get the hang of things enough last time I was here, so I really didn't make a character and I was preoccupied with another Transformers RPG that has now finished. I was fairly sure I was leaning toward a fan-made character. Do you guys have any advice for me on that point?

I doub we'll have met, as a HMW mod im a foreigner here, but I'd suggest just creating something that suits your style, put it up and the mods will give you the advice you need to make it work in the game. As far as I can tell we're in a universe very similar to the IDW comics if that helps?

If you've already got experience then you should be fine.

Welcome.

The core advice I guess would be to poke through the rules and the game history.

If that starts getting wheels turning, just follow your interests, be it canon or fanmade in terms of a character you might want to play. Then go for it. Just don't get too frustrated if the character doesn't make it through on the first try. We've all had to refine our characters at one time or another to make sure they blend with the setup here.

A character I've been tinkering with went through about 10 revisions with Cry a few weeks back

There are certainly worse places to draw writing inspiration from.

Inspiration does come from everywhere, or so they say. Whatever works is my philosophy.

Speaking of which, I could use one. There's so many different ways I could go as per a character. Does either side need more players or something? Having a faction would definitely help me out.

Well Foxfire, I'm new at this, so I don't have as much experience as some people, but I can still help a bit. What I tend to do is write down what ideas I have so far, and write down what needs to happen. Another thing I do when I'm stuck on how to make it sound good is I look at what other people write and what they do and I don't. And with the character thing, if you check above somewhere, there is a unabashed solicitation post from Ember, so that should help.

On another note, things are getting busy around here, so I might have some trouble posting. I'll try, but I might do several late posts in a row.

Well, after consideration, im dropping the idea for a fifth character for the moment. Its a hard one keeping on track of four characters as it is.

Most of us have a pretty fair idea of what our writing limits are.

Dammot 'Sid its not that... Its been harder to grab my muse and throttle it for inspiration lately, which means that its gonna be harder to take on a fifth at the moment.

I know. And that's reasonable

If it's getting harder to post rather than easier, maybe look at your roster; if you've got the right mix of characters entertaining your muse. In theory posting should get easier as you go along and get more comfortable with them.

If that's not the case, start picking apart why. Don't overthink it, obviously, but again, I think all of us have dropped characters and added different ones at one time or another because we weren't "feeling" the ones we had at the time. I've certainly done it.
