Cheetor vs. Rodimus Prime
Cheetor vs. Rodimus Prime

Rodimus always seemed so whiny and Emo that compared himself to Optimus Prime way to much. While Cheetor was never technically an official leader of the Maximals, though many times throughout BM Cheetor had to be a field commander while Primal was off with the Oracle or whatever. BM Cheetor was rather brash usually but at least he had personal drive and didn't need someone to hold his hand, he did what he felt was best whether it was or wasn't.
Obviously I support Cheetor.

His experiences were documented and learned from and mistakes were left for him to figure out and make amends. Rodimus never really had the opportunaty nor desire to become an Officer let alone the Supreme Autobot Commander. He didn't have the one on one lessons with Optimus Prime, and did not have the opportunaties to actually lead squads and assaults against the enemy. Indeed he was a standard footsoldier that got a really big promotion. From what he did manage to pull off, even if he was stuck in the shadow of a great autobot hero, was pretty amazing. Given more time in that role he would have probably surpassed his idol as he built more confidence and experiences.
My vote goes to Rodimus Prime.
What he said Rodimus was Whiny but Imagine if you Private in tha army got promoted instantly to President of the United States. Right after JFK.

Seriously I don't think Rodimus was supposed to become a whinny loser at the end of the movie. I think that the matrix should have given him the strenght and confidence needed to be the leader. At least it looked that way in the movie.

When he opened the matrix the job was done all he had to do was get out of Unicron. After that he had to face real trial and tribulation of leading. when Optimus went from Orion Pax to Optimus Prime It is to be believed he went through the same thing.

Can this realy be considered a part of the original timeline? Acording to the tv show, grimlock was created on earth. And the movie follows the show.

this is true, however in almost every comic and toon representation I've seen of Rodimus, he is always trying to adjust to being placed in such a high level of rank. If we want to go with the original G1 aspect of Optimus Prime then we will have to look at War Dawn. Orion is a carefree mechanism that actually idolizes the Decepticons, at least until he is decapitated with his own arm by Megatron. You can hear in his voice, when he becomes Optimus Prime, the instant weight that is thrust on his shoulders and the questioning of whether or not he can handle that pressure.

nitpick:
Orion was shot to "death". Decapitation by his own arm is what the writer wanted to do, but was rejected by the higher ups.
Anyway....Cheetor > Roddy

aye even in that horrible scrapfest Cybertron had a scene where Rodimus Prime and Optimus from G1 even were reconized as the greatest leaders of Cybertron, and that third bot is Sentinel Prime.

To bad they aren't fighting, this is more of a debate about who was the better leader.
