Hasbro has a very strong tendency to repaint molds in order to get as much out of the mold as possible. Does anyone know if there are any rumors or the like of Hasbro planning on putting repaints of the Swerve mold out? While I already have one of the toys (heee, so cool) It's such a fun toy tha the kitbasher in me has had several ideas, but I don't want to use an exclusive, especially such an expensive one.

I am NOT he!"
While I hope they do repaint it, I think Chevrolet specifically asked for an exclusive mold. I could be wrong (and hope I am).

*bows* thank you for the welcome!
And darn on the exclusive mold... Well then I'll just save up for a second one I guess. It's just too perfect in my mind for a 'Universe' Jazz. to me a toy being an 'exclusive' is far less important than the play value;)

Just promise you won't do it with the even more rare yellow version...

Unfortunately, I believe that Cheverolet had commissioned the design of the mold for exclusive use and that neither Hasbro or TakaraTomy can use it.

*holds hand up, other hand over heart* I solomnly swear I will never use the rarer yellow for kitbashing purposes, and only kitbash 'rare/exclusives' if I have more than one;)
*sigh* Bugger on it being exclusive... maybe they'll remold it slightly and use it that way, but I doubt it.

Not really.
How about buying two more, Jazzing both of them and selling one? It could fetch a good price.

Sorry, there won't be a general release for this mold. As someone wise said up above, the mold is not owned by Hasbro. They were contracted to make a Transformer, but they don't own the end result.

I'm on the fence about turning one (an extra one) into Jazz. The car just doesn't say "cool" to me. On the other hand, the Prowl base I've been using isn't working for me either. I'd have to see someone elses before I'd give it a try.

Hmm, yeah, I don't know what you could really do to make the Chevy Aveo into a suitable alt mode for Jazz. Part of the appeal of the figure for me is the fact that the alt mode is sooooo suburban. It's just an interesting alt mode for a more modern Transformer.

The honest truth is while I tend to buy (or kitbash) toys for play value, I also tend to look at robot mode first and then the alt mode second. And the legs, the smooth back panel and the door-arms just caught my eye when I was browsing through a Transformers collection image set... I think it was Remy's, now that I think of it. The robot mode just sort of jumped up to me and went JAZZ!
The alt-mode very much less so, but if I keep him in robot mode I can fib and say he's still a Porshe
*shrugs* If not I do have some hard shells floating around, and I know I've got a Mazda or a Proshe in there somewhere, I can always 'fix up' the alt-mode, I mean I already know I'll be moding the head extensivly to give him the helm-spikes and a more human face.
However, odds are I'll wait on kitbashing Jazz, even after I've got the spare to do so with. I still need to finish up the Nightbird kitbash, and I'm going to be trying to alter RotF Ravage with a car shell, first time I've ever tried a shell on a toy that did not have a car or simualr based altmode... *gulp* So I'll just have the two Swerve's hanging out on my kitbash station, leaning over to watch the murder and mayham below until I'm ready.

I thought it was determined that there wasn't an official yellow version and that it was painted yellow by a fan. tfwiki.net also makes the same statement on their website regarding this urban legend amongst the fandom:
Swerve had an... interesting past. Samples of the toy originally surfaced on Asian websites in August 2007, packaged in polybags that had English text printed on them, and came with standard English-language Hasbro instruction manuals, featuring the logo of the original 2003 Universe line. All "final" samples were the same red color; one specimen appeared to be yellow, but in fact had been hand-painted. The instructions lacked an assortment number, leading to the conclusion that it was a standalone release, presumably an exclusive, though the venue was unknown; for that matter, whether it would even be released at all seemed uncertain for a long time.

Umm if you look inside of the Doors you will see that they still have red on(in) them.
So it is a Repaint, a Very good one too.

The yellow paint is on blue tinted plastic. Colors through tints don't follow the usual rules of the color wheel. I've been customizing for a decade now and it looks right to me. In my opinion, it's legit.
Now that doesn't make it "offical" or an "exclusive." May have been an off color prototype or an alternate color scheme test shot before they settled on red. It could've been a "lunch time special" where they make extras for themselves. But my conclusion from the images I've seen is that came off the line yellow.
