I'll admit, I was so intimidated by him, but it really wasn't that bad. And, it was actually fun. After hearing all the horror stories of breakage, and paint scraping with 36, and the added danger of chrome on 36+, I knew I had to handle him like a baby, holding a dozen eggs, made of glass. Using the instructions, and 35 years of transforming experience I had him TFed for the first time from bot to alt in just over an hour. And I truly enjoyed every minute of it. Lots of "OH WOW" moments. Like the one Will pointed out with the rib cage pieces. Or just the way all his torso bits are redistributed. I'm always amazed by a Transformation from a seemingly symmetrical robot mode to a asymmetrical alt mode.

MAN! Just like the original toy.
I missed the extending scope the first time around. Thanks for pointing it out, Cram!

The hell, Takara?! As if his Transformation wasn't bad enough, half way through the designers threw in this hidden "F You" mode.
INCOMING!

Prepare for your annihilation!

I'm just gaga over this face. It's old school Takara robot character design. Which has always been my main draw to Transformers.

Now, now. I come offering glad tidings.

FOOLISH AUTOBOTS! Always thinking with your sparks. Never with you your logic processors.

Oh Starscream, your plans to usurp me never cease to amuse.

There's such a nice sense of completion finally having a Megatron for my MP collection. And, the fact that this 36+ version is exactly what I wanted when I first saw 36 makes it that much better. He's proven once again, that my approach to MPs of waiting to see if they do a more toy accurate version is paying off. Yeah, maybe I miss the hype train as it passes me by, it's fun to ride that train, but I am no less excited now to have this guy.
With 36+ in hand, I actually feel like if I never bought another MP, I could die happy with an MP collection that feels complete and cohesive.

Check it out! D, and any other friends of the 'Tron that might be out there, Cary and I have been cooking up a fun game. We are about to take it out for a dry run right here, right now in the 'Tron. Y'all are welcome to follow along, and even comment if you wan to.
We are excited to give this a go, and if it works well, we'll see about opening it up to everyone to play.

Transformers: Portrait of War
Posted by Cobotron Mon Jan 14, 2019 10:10 pm
Description:
Transformers: Portrait of War is a fast battling turn based game using preexisting Transformer toys straight from your own collection. While the game is about playing with your toys using simple and easy dice roll based actions, it's also about taking pics while you do it. Putting your bots into awesome poses, coordinating with your opponent, and photo documenting the battle for all to see.
What you need to play:
This is the most important part of the game. You must select your teams based on toys in your collection that both players have. You will have to communicate with your opponent before the game starts to determine available figures, and teams.
The ability to take photos and upload them. Doesn't have to be fancy. Any kind of digital camera will do!
1 or 2 six sided die. Pencil and paper for calculating score.
Points System:
The game is based on a 54 max point total. Players have 54 points to spend on different size class figures. Each class has a point value which is also their hit point value (HPV).
Leader Class - cost 30 points, HPV 30
Voyager Class - cost 24 points, HPV 24
Deluxe Class - cost 18 points, HPV 18
Legends Class - cost 12 points, HPV 12
Game play:
Each player roles for initiative. Highest role goes first. This player becomes Player one (P1). The player who loses initiative roll, P2, begins the photo match with the "stand off". Put each team into cool action ready poses and snap a pic. Post that pic.
P1, matches the "stand off" photo, chooses a bot from their team to attack, and a bot from P2's team as the target. Role one d6. 1-3 is a miss. 4-6 is a hit. If the attack is successful roll the second die (or roll again) to determine damage dealt.
Snap a shot of the roll determined action by posing all six figures highlighting the attacker and the target. Include the roll results in the frame. Post the pic!
P2 subtract damage dealt from the target bot's HPV. It is now P2's turn. Like P1, choose a bot from the team to attack, and the target bot of that attack. Roll to determine success and damage dealt.
Pose figure in an exciting scene based on the results. Including dice results. Post that pic!
Play continues in turns like this until a team is defeated.
Important note: All figures must be in every shot. Fallen bots should not be removed from scene.
Over arching rules:
Don't be a dice douche! Play fare. There is no way to monitor the true results of your rolls. Even if you lose the battle, chances are you will still have fun playing with your action figures and taking cool action packed pics.
A running tally of each figure's HPV should be included in each post.
For continuity, it may be fun to try to match each previously posed scene. Only changing the poses to reflect the actions of the attacker and target.
One d6 is really all that's needed to play, but two d6 of varying color is ideal. A lighter color die for success results, and darker for damage.
Roll results should be displayed in frame in this order, success result, followed by damage result.
Any combination of Class size toys is allowed as long as the sum of the HPVs does not exceed 54 points.
Combiners count as Leader class. They must stay combined and can not be split into their Deluxe and Voyager components.
Flight stands and other posing aids may be used.
If players would like a larger/longer game, they may raise the game point value to a number agreeable to both players in increments of 6.
