They had resources back in the 80s that they didn't have afterward. Like, all the Diaclone, Micro Change, Takatoku, and Toy Box molds were already preexisting, so they had those toylines as resources to pull molds from. They didn't have preexisting toylines to take more molds from in later years.

Though, the first redundant repainting was in 1984 with Red Bumblebee and Yellow Cliffjumper.

Im talking about the 1986 movie days all the way until the rebirth. Where did the repaints disappear to during that era ? It seems hasbro wasnt strapped for cash then. They were shooting new molds out of their ass like wildfire. I want that hasbro back. Not the washed out greedy corporate hasbro thats just a shell of what they were in the 80s mold wise.

Apparently G1 was more fun even though they had barely any playability outside of transforming them.

Not to mention the death of the Transformers brand not once but twice (end of G1 in 1990 and again with G2 in 1995, but thanks to Hasbro needing something to compete with Jurassic Park and needing to breathe new life into a dying/dead brand ... we ended up with Beast Wars).

I wouldnt call the targetmaster cars repaints. I think of them more as reissues with new weapons. The mini bots might be post 1986 but they are still stuck in that microman catagory of pre 1986 repaints of a very old mold. Eject and rewind were released at the same time as brothers like rumble/frenzy. They were never repainted a year later as a lazy character in the US market. Japan did that years later with rosana and flipsides. Im talking about hasbro stuff. Ultra magnus to me is a new mold due to the trailer. Sure they repurposed prime for a new character but they didnt do it so blatantly. MP-22 answered the call for many fans who believe the white prime never should have existed. I cant thi k of any cases where a straight up repaint was issued in a later wave the same year as a new character in that 1986-1988 era...

I want back the Hasbro that makes Transmetals, Fuzors, and Transmetal 2s (maybe minus the chrome, though), but you don't see me complaining.

Out of the 28-ish toys imported (Note that Hasbro didn't make the molds in the first place, so R+D costs are already out) for the North American 1984 G1 toyline, 22 of them were different molds. Repaints are nothing new to Transformers.

As an old school G1 guy, my top favorites are those original Diaclone cars (and planes, devices). They're so realistic and detailed... believable as their alt mode. The die cast added bit of weight for a cool feel. The Masterpiece are kinda capturing all that again....

BUT my point... being a fan of those toys — and the cartoon that went along with it — I've been VERY, VERY surprised and pleased by this wave of toys. The cost cutting measures are barely noticeable. (i.e. I think they overcame that challenge.) They are articulated, complicated-enough yet simple-enough to be fun (like the original G1 toys)... It's a good balance where they are a good time to play with and be accessible to kids and adults at the same time.

Bottom line, I'd suggest now as a great time to get back on board and give them a chance again. (Whereas, FOC line was a bit small and cheap feeling... these are a good size again, and don't feel too cheap.)

I've been QUITE pleased with this line... surprised actually. Head sculpts, detail, G1-"feel" to the characters... It's really a new dawn, in my opinion. Placing the Aerialbots next to Generations Starscream, they size well. Stunticon next to Generations Jazz, etc.

I loved G1 Slugslinger, Misfire, Triggerhappy, Weirdwolf, Mindwipe, Skullcruncher, Apeface, Snapdragon, Abominus, and all the awesome characters that came out in waves free of repaints. Yes I want that hasbro back.

We get it already :BANG_HEAD:

G1 characters with unique bodies good.
Repaints bad.

It looks as if you are just going to keep trolling people who don't share your singular vision but as it's been said before, if you don't like them, don't buy them. Complaining like this isn't about to change Has/Tak plans, so you are just hating on those of us that are interested for the sake of it.

Considering you know what? I'm betting that since blades is rumoured to be a new mold that Vortex will be a redeco/remold of him and not AB.

Rated, the hasbro you want can't and won't exist in this day and age, plus for one, I don't want it like that. I'm happy with how things are progressing and I'm not alone ;)

This is 2015 not 1984 plus most of the Hasbro employees from back then are retired so your out of luck if you want that Hasbro back (barley a difference in the first place)

Be glad Hasbro even considers to have some remakes of G1 characters especially with Rid being a thing and even the fact that Hasbro has a line for adults and is giving us fans a choice to make us some fan characters shows that they care for us the fandom they can easily just go make Generations or even all of Transformers full of nothing but one step changers.

You don't like this group?

Then don't buy the figures simple and easy.

The single biggest thing about this site that continues to baffle me is the need to feed the trolls? Why? The last four pages of this thread consist almost entirely of trolling and feeding the troll! It really sucks when you suddenly find yourself not wanting to go to a thread (or even the site) because you're worried you will just be wasting your time seeing all this pointless crap instead of the fun discussions that should be here =;

The last four pages of this thread consist almost entirely of trolling and feeding the troll! It really sucks when you suddenly find yourself not wanting to go to a thread (or even the site) because you're worried you will just be wasting your time seeing all this pointless crap instead of the fun discussions that should be here =;

That's why I went to tfw2005 for awhile until I got banned for pissing off a mod even though I was justified but I came back here and it was much better then when
I was last here.

But guys like x here say things so ridiculous you can't help it but to comment.

Welcome back, mirageandjazz1197! Glad to have you here.

As for Arctorro's comments, isn't this the whole point of a discussion forum? If we all agreed, there wouldn't be much to discuss. But trying to share our views on a topic and why we feel the way we feel is part of what makes this place happen. If it was all flowers, sunshine, and rainbows around here, it'd be kind of a dull place (or a Care Bears or My Little Pony website).

BIG RESCUE FORCE!!!

Is this the most that could have been accomplished out of the liokaiser combining bots that were released individually outside of Japan?

Yup. No combiner parts and no arm guys. Can't wait to do the gallery one day. I'm stalling because there's a variant of the Rescue Force. I'm not sure which one I own but I'd like to get both variants for the galleries.

Yes sir. Only four of the six Breastforce members were released in Europe in 1992, and without the Liokaiser helmet (since it's the sole piece of Combiner kibble Liokaiser had).
