Different paint jobs or not, Hasbro will NOT let Takara produce the exclusive BotCon Seekers. They were exclusive characters, not exclusive paint jobs. And I'll bet a million bucks that one of the first requests/demands from Fun Publications was that if they invest in making these characters exclusives, that someone like Takara are never allowed to do it.
It's shocking how many people continue to think that because *they* think it could or should happen, that it will... even though Hasbro themselves have expressly said it won't.
Yeah it sucks that some people missed out on these figures while some of us others have multiple sets, but it's nevertheless annoying to see EVERY SINGLE thread about Classics get worn down by the constant harping about Thundercracker, Thrust & Dirge. It's not going to happen. If it did, it would immediately make the entire point of BotCon convention exclusives moot, thus turning off MANY potential return customers, attendees & fanclub members.
Deal with it and move on already.
Confirmed Takara Classics to better reflect G1.

these are just people's musings, opinions and wishful thinking. there's nothing wrong with that, and if you read most of the posts regarding exclusives here (most recently Autobot032's) none of them sounded like they were trying to rant or something. just a little (ok, maybe a lot) wishful thinking on their parts. ain't nothing wrong with a little dream (even impossible ones) - the world would be worse off without dreamers.
if you don't want to hear about people WISHING that this time around Takara would produce the rest of the seekers, then you always have the option of not reading this thread and not posting here.
what's more annoying than people wishing about Takara Botcon exclusives are people telling off these dreamers to move on because they were unfortunate enough to miss out on these.
all the comments above are the HUMBLE OPINIONS of the said user only. 'nuff sed.

It wouldnt be the first time that Hasbro has disapointed their collector fans.........and I doubt that many fans would give up on buying TF just cause Takara made a few Botcon exclusive characters.
And by the way the figures may have been exclusive toys but they were not exclusive characters. They were all G1 characters and from what I understand about the agrement between Hasbro and Takara there is no G1 character that is completly off limits. They may not be able to you the same modifide mold for Thrust of the same paint app on Dirge or Thundercracker but they should be able to use the characters.

I suspect that if Takara repainted the Seeker molds in different colours and maybe if they gave them different names then they might be able to do it. The other day, however, Counterpunch raised the point that the mold for Thrust's wings is owned by FunPub, and I don't see them allowing Takara to use those wings if they're supposed to be exclusive to the BotCon set. Of course, Takara could mold new wings but would they bother?

Maybe we should all just wait and see. I'm not ruling anything out, I can see peoples pints about the funpub/Botcon stuff however I see no reason why Takara would not be able to produce their own versions so long as they were different to the US exclusives, whether the decide to do that or not is anyones guess. Personally I don't care that much either way as I'm not a massive seeker fan but it would be nice to see the main three get a general release, Thundercraker being an exclusive was IMO a kick in the teeth to most Seeker fans.

Let's hope so, cause I'd be waaaay happier if they do that. I can't wait to see some pics/comparison shots of these guys. Just placed my pre-order for Megs and Starscream.

There's another factor to consider with the Classics jet mould- it's not in very good shape any more. The Botcon jets I encountered (mine and those of my roommates) had noticeably looser joints and interlocking pieces were a worse fit than on the Hasbro releases. Considering they've had three full and three partial runs already, I'm not sure how many more times the moulds will be usable.

Hehe, if the thread was titled "Wave 1 Japanese Classics Getting G1 Repaints... Plus More Tired Ranting & Raving About The BotCon 2007 Seekers", then I would have chosen not to read it. The problem is that not all of us are psychics, and therefore don't know what we're going to read until it's already happened.

No, trust me, the whiners are far more annoying, especially when they start going off about bunches of possible future repaints based on news of only 4 confirmed figures that still aren't even out yet. Add to that, it's been about 5-6 months since we found out what the BotCon exclusives were going to be, yet people are *still* throwing tantrums about it.
I fully realize it was a dirty move not to release those figures via mas retail, but the fact still remains that people *did* have the opportunity to buy them even if they didn't go to the convention - something that could have just as easily never happened. What's worse, keeping them as exclusives for attendee's only or allowing any Joe Somebody to also order them from anywhere in the world MONTHS before the convention ever actually happened?
The only realistic "new Seeker" possibility I see coming from Japan's release of the Classics is that we *might* get a Sunstorm repaint out of them alongside more G1 styled paint jobs of the existing figures already released by Hasbro, but that's it. But at this stage, with the confirmation of only 4 characters - each of which happen to be movie characters - I'm not speculating or holding my breath. For all we know, these could be the *only* Classics they release.
