Worth buying? Up to you.

Best finish? For the best detail, either white or black detail. For durability, 'white, strong and flexible' or 'white, strong and flexible polished'. The "Frosted ultra Detail" just might be overkill for this, and won't be as tough as the white or black detail.

Nope, I don't. I just know people that use Shapeways, and have learned a bit about the types of resins they use.

Do you know if black detail finish would be comparable to standard hasbro weapons in terms of quality/durability?

I have no clue. I'd have to get one myself and examine it.

I have something in black detail and it feels like velvet, it's very odd. There is a lot of white powdery residue which can be cleaned off if you wash it. The thing I have is so small I can't really compare to Hasbro quality.

Personally, I would go for frosted ultra detail on this one. The painted gun in the pictures looks like it was made from the 'white strong and flexible' stuff which is poor. To do the gun justice, I would say ultra frosted is the only option. You will probably have to put at least 4 coats of paint on it (undercoat, 2 topcoats plus lacquer) and this alone will lose some of the fine details so best to give yourself as good a base as possible.

Let me know how yours turns out, because that's actually pretty cool and I wouldn't mind getting one myself!

Thanks for the feedback dudes, think I'll go for the black detail one, as I don't really want to be messing around with too many paint apps and don't really fancy the extra cost of the frosted on, I'll post images when I get around to buying one.

Finally got around to getting this, went for strong white flexible polished in the end, and "painted" it with a black Sharpie and a silver paint pen.

He's a cheeky little beauty, and the Nerf's not bad either!

Finaly got around to adding a clear coat and an additional coat of silver.
