The Energon Pub

This week I have two more Transformers Classics for you all, Cyclonus and The Fallen! Cyclonus was made from the smaller Toys R Us exclusive voyager Energon Megatron. I decided to paint him purple after quite a few people told me that dark blue such as Galvatron, really is suppose to be purple. Most of the art I found for Cyclonus depicted him purple too. I gave him magnetically attaching hands so at least one part of him could be removable because I love extra parts. His paint scheme is pretty complex with a basecoat of violet, line wash of dark blue, then highlights of light blue along with the different shades of purple and blue on him.

The Fallen was my attempt to make something useful out of the Classics Megatron from that Ultimate Battle 2-pack that came with Optimus Prime. I used the head of the Titanium Fallen (which infuriated me as it fell apart/became loose every time I'd pick it up so it had to die), gave him a new right hand, and a magnetic collar of flame that attaches to him. The paint scheme is easy! Basecoat black, line in with bright orange, then line in the middle of those lines with bright yellow.

wow Jin, I just saw these on ebay. really like the blue/purple combo on Cyclonus, nice work.

where are his hands from? I'd love picking up about 20 sets of those. Please tell me they aren't Gundam...those kits are too damn expensive. I just read the details..WTF is a BAF Modok, and where can i get some?

Thanks! Modok is the build-a-figure from series 15 of Marvel legends, the one with Moon Knight, Captain Marvel, SpiderWoman, etc. You can pick them up at Kay bee for like $4. Can't remember who comes with what arm part of Modok for the hands but you can check the back of their packages to find out.

edit: actually, there's a KB nearby, took a look on the website, saw the build-a-figure MLs, but no MODOK...

Nice. I love how much a figure changes with a simply coat of black paint. Awesome job, Jin, on both of these. Any chance we'll see a Stormbringer Thunderwing out of Energon Megatron? I remember seeing one of those somewhere, and it was really cool.

Cyclonus, while a nice paint scheme, just doesn't work for me because of the bulk. I just see him as a skinny dude.

The Fallen however, absolutely love it. A VAST improvement over Megatron.

Those are amazing What color did you use on the main body of Cyclonus???And whos head did you use???/It looks very familur.

The Fallen is to die for! Talk about making the most out of a Movie Pack Megs. Cyclonus is really good too, but far outshined by The Fallen because he is The Fallen and is sooooo bad ass. I may have to copy you again, damm it.

Once again awesome customs! I especially like the Cyclonus. I really like your paint apps on it. Nice work as always.

I think the point was that it is smaller so that he is smaller than Jin's Galvatron and just the perfect size for the clasics line.

Ya know, that is kinda small for The Fallen in any TF, toy line. He was a head or so taller then about all of his advesaries in the comic OK, there's that one flaw. It's still a major improvement on that Megs.

These are just as great as walways, but...(I'm gonna get shot for this...)
It's boring. I mean, all your customs are looking the same. Not in style, because it's yours, but just how they all end up the same thing, with the weathering, paint, and all. I'd like to see something new and fresh..but, since I'm not half as good, I'm content.

I like Jin's style. It's not exactly my style or Tom servo's style or anybody elses style because we all have a different style, at least somewhat. I'm not comming down on you bro, just letting you know that there is a variety of styles to be found from artist to artist. You rock, noth'n but love for ya.

Hmmm, I dunno if it's 'better', there's things about both that I like and dislike. On the Leader class plus side he's big, the face is painted better or cast cleaner, and I like the mechanisims. The voyager however is easier to handle, the clear sections are hard plastic instead of soft, and the flip-out sections aren't made of that unpaintable plastic like the Leader class has. So really it comes down to preference.

I agree, I'd like the fallen as a Leader class or Supreme! But I had the Fallen's head laying around, that Megs tank, the two just kinda came together, heh. Justifies me blowing $20 on the set I suppose.

Don't worry, it's cool! I could do some airbrushing, more metallics, that sorta thing. But I do want my customs to look like a 'series' tho right now. The buyers I have for them have expressed the fact that my figures do look like they were all done the same way and belong in their set. That only pigeon-holes me for the time being. I'd like to get a micron airbrush and detail in panel lines that way (saving up for one) and start a new look at some point, so I hear ya. However I wanna stay away from the clean-Gundam-kit-look. So... something inbetween. I'm always listening to suggestions too, any ideas?

When I first saw it, I went nuts, it looks so fantastic. For cyclonus, am i the only one who sees nothing but a rabbit face? heh. I mean not to be rude, the color and jet mode look fantastic, but the rabbit face just kinda throws me off.
Nonetheless, I can't emphasize how much I am loving that fallen. great work man.
