Chemistry was one of my favorite subjects in school, especially salts, acids and alkalies and organic chemistry (with hydrocarbons). The answer is B. An atom or molecule who's total electron count isn't equal to its proton count, tho I could see people go for C. An atom or molecule who has had all of its electrons removed.
Put simply, an ion is an atom or molecule with a net electric charge, through the addition or subtraction of electrons for single atoms, or protons for molecules.
