Would not surprise me at all. In fact, it's become common practice to plan two heads for each new mold (so-called "pretools"), and Dreadwing is a very possible candidate for any stealth bomber. All we need is a smokey companion :lol:

*EDIT* And it suddenly struck me. The pretool has to be G2 Dreadwing to mirror this:

Makes perfect sense. When I saw that first pic of IDW Megatron, I thought it WAS Dreadwing.

Seibertron member Bass X0 dropped by the Energon Pub with what could be our first glimpse at a possible retool/repaint of the recently revealed IDW style Generations Deluxe Megatron. This image comes from the soon to be released Transformers: Robots in Disguise Ongoing #14, which has already become available through some digital download services. As you can see in the image mirrored below there is a Decepticon from one of the group shots sporting Megatron's new body, but with an alternate head. As we know from Transformers brand panel during last weekend's Hasbro Media Day they are now working hand in hand with IDW, and Hasbro has taken to pre-planning future repaint/retools. Speculation is this could character could be Generation 2 Dreadwing. Check out the image below, and join the discussion in the Energon Pub.

That's fine if they do Dreadwing. But I wouldn't like to see BB that small. That head is definately Dreadwing's though.

Works for me. I would've grabbed that Megatron in an instant if he were Voyager sized, but now that it's highly suspect the mold will be seeing a good repaint, I may hold out for that one instead.

He would also make a good repaint as Scourge/Sweeps. He doesn't have the back wings, or smooth aesthetic as the G1 version, but he has the futuristic robot mode look and powerful character look that make him a good match. (I know that the jet is an earth jet)

Though, he really needs the wings to be a Sweep, maybe I’ll make him a new seeker squad. I don’t need fifty Transformers named Megatron.

This is great news if it happens. While Stealth Bomber Megatron looks inserting

, I could only Buy him as a Leader class figure maybe Voyager.

But I could see getting a Deluxe G2 Dreadwing. Thing is however... Wasn't he already killed in one of the Drift Comics flashbacks?

looks like it'd be a good enough repaint. the appearance in the comics isn't necessarily a hint though, we've seen acid storm kicking about in the wfc/foc seeker body and no word on him being released.

I hope this comes to fruition. I need a reason to not get that Megatron. He would look great standing next to straxus on my shelf. I'll probably end up getting the Megatron version as soon a s I see it though, because I'll get all excited.

I was thinking the same. It doesn't bother me so much in terms of toys, but in the fiction, that shouldn't happen.

This is perfect!

I quite like the new Megatron design and the figure that it's spawned, but I'm a little disappointed in the size considering it is Megatron. A Dreadwing repaint would solve this problem perfectly.

I don't really like this because it cheapens the design of megaton. Oh here's the awesome improved Megs! Hes so awesome and unique! Oh wait no. He isn't there another guy with thr same awesome body. It makes this megaton seem less awesome to me. Logical repaint for a toy. Bad idea in fiction.

A buddy met Andrew Griffith at a signing today and the artist said G2 Dreadwing and FOC Thundercracker toys are on the way. Not a confirmation, but still neat.

Both of your points make good sense

Yet, from the comics perspective, this isn't Megatron's 'new mode' in a sense that it has been mush for the past year of Transformers comics. In Dreadwing's context, he has this new body while Megatron is getting ready to enter his newer body.
