Like the title says i've been reading the marvel comics several times and Optimus seems sometimes greatly fluctuate in on power.

Strengths
Held off 15 Cons while rescuing Buster on the antarctic base.
Defeated Matrix posessed Thunderwing
Defeated corrupted Matrix entity and Unicron
Defeated Bludgeon during the last stand in issue 80

Weaknesses
Hesitates a lot
Never leaves his powered up mode
Easily wounded or thrown like a ragdoll
Easily damaged in random comics (and his head is often visbly damaged without repairing it for several issues)

Like any other major character, right? It's treated less like a power-up and more like a new body with story line potential. For example, Hi-Q didn't come into play after his introduction until the end of the comics as a "spare body". What a way to go...

Hi-Q was kinda there but treated like a minor cop-out since he was having a identity crisis and somehow his soul was somehow fused with prime's spark was still merged with Hi-Q after Unicron died, and later he was reborn into a Action Master at the last moment.
