Ok. Ever since I joined the TFCC in December, I have become obsessed with last year's membership incentive figure, Dion. I think he looks all kinds of awesome.
I am quite disappointed with my copy of Universe Hot Shot. Not because he is a bad toy - he is a great design. However, it seems as if the blasters that come with the Henkei! version, and with Dion, were removed at the last minute. Not only do the various ports on the toy, clearly designed to mount these blasters, feel entirely pointless now that I know about this, but the hole in the rear bumper to accommodate them was filled in! This makes those shoulder panels, in theory, a lot more fiddly!
Before I go blowing $25 on a mold I already kind of own, I need to know, are Dion's shoulder panels less fiddly than Hot Shot's?
And don't tell me about the "duro-lifter" feature. I tried it on Hot Shot, and it looks stupid.

I passed on Hot Shot when he was out. Not into him at all. I got Dion for free because he was the membership freebie.
He is a pain in the rear to transform, his shoulders are huge and annoying to position so that he looks good in bot mode.
The paintjob on his is fantastic though. I keep him out on the shelf in alt. mode because he looks so cool. He is about the only figure displayed full-time in alt mode.
I would say if you collect the Elite Guard figures or you display in alt mode, get him. If not, I would say pass.

The real problem is the spoiler, I cut it off my hotshot and the shoulder kibble never gets in the way. The only downside is jolt can't attach to the rear of the vehicle anymore, which was pretty dumb anyway and I don't miss it.

There is nothing wrong with Dion. He uses the Henkei mold so the shoulders work just fine. Get him and if you can pick up Elita-1 and Alpha Trion. Very few things in G1 were as awesome as War Dawn and having those three on a shelf together is just amazing.

The hole isn't filled in, it's a remold on Takara's part. Universe Hot Shot isn't missing anything, Henkei's got them added.
I sold my Hot Shot and kept Dion, the shoulders are definatlty better.

Actually, strangely enough I think it's the other way around. The Henkei version was molded first and the US was the remold. Strange, but that's how we were told on that one.
(it totally makes more sense the other way though)

Yeah, the look pretty sweet together. I was actually a little bummed when the Botcon 2009 set was revealed because everyone thought the "young Autobot" was going to be Orion Pax. Seriously, Kup came out of f***ing nowhere!
