I found this on IMDB it's the plot synopsis.

The Autobots learn of a Cybertronian spacecraft hidden on the Moon, and race against the Decepticons to reach it and learn its secrets, which could turn the tide in the Transformers' final battle.

The humans found the ship over 40 years ago. It's not lost, Neil and Buzz found it on foot. "Oh, you're looking for that old thing? Yeah, just start here, then it's like a half a mile west. You need a ride? No? Right, of course, you're interstellar aliens, you can fly from Earth to Jupiter in a few minutes."

Never trust IMDB when a movie isn't out yet, that's when they're almost always wrong.

Yeah, I'd like to go back and see why this one (Ark being found 40ish yrs ago) isn't explained by sector seven? Obviously they had the images of the robot smashing Nasa's toy on Marrs so..... how'd this info slip his mind?

But yeah, I'd agree as this probably isn't true about the movie, but only time will tell

They didn't tell the Autobots anything, ever. They were disbanded after Megatron "died," and apparently disposed of all their files, except what Simmons could salvage, and he lost his security clearance so he wasn't even allowed to talk about the Autobots.
