Yeah, I'd only want to take someone who was interested. I was never "dragged along" by my ex girlfriends on their shopping trips(I always went along willingly because they were usually more affectionate afterwards. :) ) and so I wouldn't want to do that to them.

Well, does gf that help you look for TFs in stores on her free time count? B-)

That kind of girlfriend is a keeper! :D

Given the kind of good fortune you'd need to find a girl who's a looker, is attracted to you, AND loves TF's, I think I'll stick to mine. At least she doesn't hate TF's :)

It seems going by myself i feel ok with it, but when the wife is with me, well it's a whole different story, she makes me feel uncomfortable abit, and she had me postponed other hobbies i had or already started. but thats ok, like everyone here i'm a transformer fan until the end and always will be. Back to the question, my wife REALLY tease me alot when heading into a TRU, and always says out loud "here we are toy shopping and we dont have children yet!" and then, if i find something i want or new, i grab it and hold my head up high and head to the checkout and enjoy my collectible when i get home...

True, the stars must be aligned but it happens. :) Aim for the stars, you'll at least hit the moon!

But, yeah, as long as one's Significant Other doesn't hate the hobby, that's good enough for me. If the SO enjoys the hobby as well, that's just great!

There is absolutely no reason to feel any shame for your TF purchases. First you shouldn't care what other people shopping are thinking of you, and second they probably aren't paying any attention to you anyway. The vast majority of toys are purchased by adults even when they are for children. Adults have the money. I would imagine most of the time I purchase a TF the cashier(if they even notice what they're scanning)probably assumes I am buying it for a child. Ocassionally a cashier will say something like, "Looks like you're going to make somebody happy" implying that I am buying the figure for a child. I always reply, "No, it for me." I've never had anyone anywhere give me any grief for my collecting.

Sometimes I feel embarrassed. It helps me to go with friends, I almost always force one of my boys or my girlfriend to join me. I feel comfort in numbers. I always figured at the very least if I was called out, I knew I was with someone who had my back.

Just cradle a Transformers box while looking at the person, deadpan expression, unblinking. Then after a good 10 seconds, if the person hasn't turned away, yell "My name's Jetfire, don't judge me!"

Here's a story for you.

Was out buying stuff for my kitchen with my parents today, and made a quick stop in TRU to see if they had Jolt yet. In I stroll, ipod blaring, ripped jeans and a black blazer, my rave sunglasses on and my hair swept back, I strolled up the tf aisle and gave a displeased frown at the lack of Jolt-age.

I dare say I still looked to coolest dude in that aisle.

In short, I never feel embarrased. Instead, I think to myself "HA! You kids can't afford these toys, but I can!"

All the more reason for me not to bring my girlfriend along while hunting for TF's, lest she try something similar on me :)

I usually dont feel embarassed when buying TF's. That only thing that sucks is when I have my 2 8 year old sons with me. Cause most the clerk will say "looks like you guys (my sons) will be having fun tonight". The sad part is although I do buy some for them, most of them are for me. So my sons will retort with "no, they are for my dad, and he wont let us opened them" My boys are far from neglected but if that situation accures I get dirty looks from the clerk.

The first day TF:ROFT toys came out, I am lucky to have a bad ass wife who enjoys them as much as I do so she got me almost all of the ones that were released on May 20th. Its funny also the looks we get when were at Target picking cards some of the weird looks that we got from the clerks. My wife is in it elbows deep with me.

Ah after reading this forum I have at last found my true place. Somewhere that I feel, dare I say it Normal . . . I feel weird just typing that. Any way Never, I take much fun and pleasure in being the Weird guy thet is just fun to talk to about anything, and I'm Evil so I like messing with people from time to time. By the way when I was 12 I've climbed to the top of my house wearing only a swim trunks and Screamed "Mortal Combat" then jumped into the pool, dose that count? And I love when the Cashier says "Looks like you're going to make somebody happy" and just answer "Yep, and Your looking at Him" with the dumbest smile I can do. I sorry but the day I got the Decepticon Emblem tattooed on my arm I can Never be embarrassed about Transformers, Megatron's Orders!!! :CON:

I take it that your a MISB collector? Man, your kids must've really wanted to rip open those figures and play with them, I know I would. It's pretty hard to find mint packages in most retail stores if your a MISB collector. I remember back when the Hasbro reissues came out, I wanted to collect some MISB seekers and it took me forever to find a mint box. :P

It would be neat to have some sort of Transformers fan meet at some time and have a group of say a dozen to a hundred adults descend upon local retail stores and shop for some Transformers. Then the TF fans could be the ones who stare at the "normal" people. While petting their Transformers purchases affectionately.

It only counts if it's a regular occurrence. Oh, and you have to crouch uppercut yourself off the roof because it isn't really Mortal Kombat without an uppercut launcher.
