Do you ever feel embarrassed when buying Transformers in stores?

Feel free to discuss anything about any of the thousands of Transformer toys here. Anything from Generation 1 all the way to the soon to be released, the never to be released or the hope to be released is fair game! Want to show off your stuff? Please post your's and see others in the Transformers Collections Forum.

Nope. Never felt embarrassed buying any toys.. I don't care about others opinions about what I buy or what I do.
Not a sheeple.
Think for yourself, don't let the magic TV box and social media do the thinking for you.
Question EVERYTHING!!
Just because you have a youtube review channel doesn't make you special.
I look forward to attending a Botcon soon only to settle matters with several idiots in person (yes this is a threat).

Embarrassed?
No, never.
I love Transformers, I openly admit to that. Sure it got me the occassional odd look, but up until now nobody ever commented on it in a bad way.
If anything, it got me a few good reactions too.
Currently looking for:
- the projectile for Cybertron Supreme Class Starscream's arm cannon
- a gun barrel for Classics Jetfire's (the little black thingy that plugs onto the front of his swing-out shoulder cannons)
- the rotor for Micromaster Tracer (from the Military Patrol)

If you have one of the above and want to part with it, please PM me!

It only counts if it's a regular occurrence. Oh, and you have to crouch uppercut yourself off the roof because it isn't really Mortal Kombat without an uppercut launcher.

I know what will happen if I tried that on my rooftop. That grumpy old lady living nextdoor is gonna blast me off the roof with a water hose. Subzero wins...Flawless Victory! :P

Oh Wow that is Too funny, you sir just made my day.

Well I just got the RotF Bruticus Reissue today, and when I was in the toy aisle. There was this mom with her son and he wanted to get a Optimus Prime (Leader Class) but him mom said that he was not old enough to get it, and he didn't want to get as he put it the "Lame-O" Fast Action Battlers. Well I asked her if she need some help with picking a good toy, and she said "Oh thank Good, some help at Last" (Not Lying!, It Scared Me) so she told me that she didn't want anything that was too hard for him but he was dead set on Not getting a F.A.B. So I showed her the Bruticus I had in hand and she said "That doesn't look too hard for him to play with". As I let her Take the one I was holding to show her son I told him that they all combine into one bigger bot, and started to tell him all about the Combaticons and when I was done he said I quote "who needs a Semi-Truck, I've got Tanks!"

That has to be the Best days shopping Ever.

Man, I live in such a small town, there's only one store that ever actualy stocks anything (though a couple places get lucky now and then) and they literally announce to me what they got in when I enter the building. When I'm shopping out of town, though (3+ hrs to the nearest walmart, 6+ hrs to the nearest TRU) I don't know them, they don't know me... so I don't really care. I walk through walmart with an armload (never have the foresight to get a buggy, or even a basket) of Robot Heroes without even batting an eye.

Nice, gratz on helping the parent and the kid out :APPLAUSE: I'm sure the kid would've enjoyed Bruticus Maximus more than Leader Prime. ROTF Leader Prime have one of the hardest transformation process. :-(

:) Glad you found it funny, bro. Honestly, I really wouldn't put it past that old lady doing something like that. She once tried to bludgeon some other guy's poodle with a shovel for peeing in her lawn. True story, man

BTW, kudos on helping the kid pick the Bruticus set. If his mom had given in and got him a ROTF Prime, he'd probably snap off the chest pieces within seconds of trying to transform OP.

I feel embarrassed about buying toys in general sometimes. Moreso with DCU Classics than Transformers. I feel embarrassed when I see a hot girl in a store and I'm holding a toy. It's a real c**kblocker. No wonder I'm a 30 yr old virgin! OOPS TMI! TMI! #-o

Evil and probably bitter!

Get off my lawn, you darn kids!

Back to the topic, I think that there's no need to be embarrassed about buying Transformers. It's a hobby that doesn't harm anyone and I'd rather spend my hard earned money on plastic crack than the real thing. For a few years, I felt I was too old to collect toys. I finally came around but thanks to my doubt and basically self denial, I missed out on some good years of toy collecting.

Same here. Binaltech Sunstreaker and Henkei Convoy would have been mine had I just gotten over my jitters and walked into that store two years ago

I've always been kind of self-conscious about it, but lately I figured it's my money and my damn business what I want to buy with it.

In any case, the first thought that goes through the minds of other people you see at the toy store are that you're getting it for your kid or nephew. Unless you set yourself up for it by acting all weird and start talking to the figure or something.

Embaressed? never..I get into a zone when I'm hunting figs or just browsing the toy aisle. When I have my mind set on finding a fig I kind of ignore everything and most people while on the trail. There have been a couple of times whee I was verbally accosted for my toy collecting though

I was told by a older manager at target that Transformers "are supposed to be for kids, not grown adults" I wanted to rip the guys face off but I just nodded and walked out.

Another time a Mom was looking for aigure and I politely stepped in and helped her and she said it kind of worried her that a grown man knew this much about transformers...~sigH~ I guess the stereotype just never really goes away..But It's all good..I can take it :):):) Me wantey More Plastic Crack!!!!

I've never been told by a store employee before, but the stereotype from other parents are typical, at least in TRU. :?

Be honest with them.

Tell them 'No thanks, I plan on either opening this in my car out in the parking lot or at any red lights I happen to hit on the way home.'

Don't you all dare act like you don't do this crap too.
