Do you ever feel embarrassed when buying Transformers in stores?

Feel free to discuss anything about any of the thousands of Transformer toys here. Anything from Generation 1 all the way to the soon to be released, the never to be released or the hope to be released is fair game! Want to show off your stuff? Please post your's and see others in the Transformers Collections Forum.

WM carries all kinds of products whereas TRU carries toys, it's what they specialize in so maybe the company is more strict on inventory care.

They prob are, I mean they only sell toys. If I worked around toys all day I'd be in a pretty happy mood everyday too. Hmm, maybe minus the whining kids.

I'd love to work in a toy store. But the actual reality of working at any kind of retailer would probably destroy my spirit.

Hmm, I wonder of TRU gives staff discounts...
Toys for sale, S.H. Figuarts, Revoltech, Robot Damashii, Figma, and more!

Discounts for purchases of 3 items or more! See sales thread for details.

Same here. You will get to know the new releases before anyone else plus you can reserve some toys that you want to buy in your pay day.

As much as I knew, toy stores are giving staff discounts. I know a toy store that gives at least 30% discount on their staff any day of the week, excluding Fridays to Sundays.

I'll bet they do, other retailers (Target, Best Buys...etc) all get employee discounts. I wonder if it's possible to hide some toys you want to buy in the back if you actually worked there lol

I've often wondered how anyone could work at a toy store and be in a bad mood. But then I remember the crappy retail jobs I've had in the past (Macy's Juniors Department? What?!) AND I've stood and listened to the pre-Christmas whining. Not the kids, really. I mean, you sort of expect kids to whine in a toystore unless they're getting just about everything in the store, right?

But the parents. Oh My God they get so *mean* and they are so *clueless* about toys. Like they're so disconnected with their kids' lives and they get this list and don't even know how to pronounce these things, much less what they are. And then they complain about the price. And then they complain about the line. And then they complain about the no gift wrap....on and on. And that's not even counting the various 'crazes'--anyone remember the Cabbage Patch Doll riots? or the whole Tickle Me Elmo? People beat each other over the damn things.

Now. I like my TFs, but I don't think I'd trample anyone to get one. Not when there's...the internet.

Let's face it: how many of y'all have had to explain to a parent or point out the figure they're looking for for them?

As for snooty cashiers, I just pile on every bit of my Southern Charm (it totally works here in the NE) and smile and look them in the eye and call them 'sweetie.' Oh, naaooo honey child, this is for me. Ah don't need myself a gift reciept but thanks so much for askin' sweet thang.

HK, and then I go sit in my car do my evil anime princess laugh. (And pet Starscream in possibly inappropriate ways).

Hmm...the staff discount would be the only thing that I'd work at a toy store for. It's one thing to enjoy the product as a consumer, it's another to actually work in a place that sells it because the general experience of dealing with people who shop there isn't so great.

Sometimes. Usually it's if I see someone I know, or if there's someone very attractive at the register.

I remember that whole Tickle Me Elmo and Furby craze a few years back, everyone wanted one for their kids. I don't know what's more scary, the evil animae princess laugh or petting the Starscream. :P

Those kinds of toy crazes are, well, crazy! Do they happen anymore? I don't recall any news about such riots in the last year or two. Man, I'd hate to work anywhere that sells toys if that were to happen again.

I believe there was a craze like this with Wii and PS3.

I don't know if the crazes are over one particular toy, but people still go nuts at xmas. People trample each other every black Friday just to save 15 cents on a toaster, and they say it's the best time of the year

Now that you mentioned it, there was an incident last Christmas where a temp WM worker was trampled to death when he opened the doors on Christmas sale day. Yet, people still kept on shopping.

That was Black Friday of last year. The Wally is about a half hour from my house. Yay materialistic frenzy! (Okay, not so much).

My students (because we talked about it in class) decided the police and Walmart should be sued. Then, justice would be served. Or shall I say Ju$tice. Sigh.

Not one of my students blamed the other shoppers who trampled the guy.

HK, and people wonder why I am...not so fond of Long Island?

I don't see why the shoppers shouldn't get some part of the blame for the incident. I mean, they are the one that trampled the guy, is any sale worth it to take a human life?

I agree, they're the ones who didn't give a **** they were walking over someone to buy cheap unnecessary crap. That is blatant disregard for human life.

As I understand it, HK disagrees with her students' decision of who should have had action taken against.

I find it so strange that not one student sees blame on the part of the people who actually killed the man.

Guess I read it wrong, but yea, the people should've gotten at least some blame. How would they feel if they were the one or their family member was the one trampled over? The way I see it, people just tell themselves that they wasn't the only one who stepped on him there was others too, for them to sleep at night.

Yeah and it's easier to target a company or the local authorities in lawsuits than a group of individuals.

As much flak big chains of stores get, it's like getting angry at an entire country rather than the current government. There's a difference between those running the show and those who are the grunts in the field. That's why I always try to be pleasant to the store staff. I grew up working in a restaurant and I worked for several years in the tech support field so I know how it is to be on the front lines serving customers.

Well, I have respect for the employees of retails, restaurants...etc. But you have to hate those that had a bad day at work and takes it out on the customers. Lastly, down with the big man. :P
