I heard from some TF toy fans that G1 toys always has not good appearance. I do not mean to critic on the whole design but just focus on the details and paints.

What about your ideas? :BOT:

I find the paint application quality of the vintage toys to be the best of the entire series.

lines are crisp, rare to see a lot of overspray. Factory stickers were generally applied very well.

I think compared to today, G1 wins head and shoulders for paint and factory sticker application.

Only because they didn't use much at all back in the day, even then only to cover large areas. The details were provided by the stickers, the technology for painting details, as well as making tampographs wasn't as sophisticated. The more sophisticated, the more prone to error.
The resident Rewind... well, half of one

I do own a Japanese Meister version which had some paint application imperfections so not all original G1 incarnations were perfect. But compared with todays products, they nearly were!
