I know the smaller the scale, the lesser the detail in most cases (not a rule of thumb, yes I know), but still. I do like the idea of providing a toy that gives a robot size equal to that of any other deluxe toy in one's collection, but the execution here leaves something to be desired in my book. But perhaps that's just me, back to the first line that "I've not been a fan of the Seekers look for the movies".

fair enough, but on the other hand, i RARELY see TFs posed in a way that makes use of their potential. I don't like the fatty turkey looking seekers that the movie have spawned either, but I think there is a hidden coolness in these figures, if only posed and equipped properly. The shite part is that the thundercracker repaint doesn't have a head unique enough for TC. LAME. Nowadays, if they re-release a figure, at LEAST a different head mold. esp when starscreams head mold is so associated with the movie starscream.

Yes, as a matter of fact I do.
Ironhide, Bumblebee, Nitro Bumblebee, deluxe Ratchet, Topspin, Roadbuster, Megatron, Shockwave, Sideswipe, Sentinel Prime, and Thundercracker are some that I am definitely going out to buy.
Again, just asking for the sake of discussion...
But these are...better than existing movie toys? They will be more deserving of shelf space when compared to Generations or TF Prime? They are better purchases than those toys?
I don't know you, so you may have unlimited funding, shelf space, or are perhaps a hard core movie enthusiast. I'm trying to see what is is that I'm missing about these figures that "does it" for other people.
Maybe I've been collecting to long, but many of these figures are not meeting a minimum standard of "new", "improved", or "interesting" enough for me to buy.

It isn't just you. I felt very burned by the toys for the first movie though. I bought more than I intended to initially for ROTF but none of what I got was terrible IMO or even anywhere near the disappointment level of the previous line. The only real definite for DOTM for me right now is Cyberverse Powerglide. Unless Takara does some amazing stuff for the decos on Shockwave and Sentinel Prime, I just don't care enough to spend the money.

I do personally think these are deserving of shelf space. I don't know about all the kiddie toys that tag along, but definitely the MechTech and Cyberverse figures look worth it IMO. And I am a pretty big movie enthusiast (ask Burn, he'll tell you all about me). But funding is pretty low, as well as shelf space, but I collect TFs anyway
But like I told someone else earlier this week, you're not "missing" something with these figures that other people get. It's just personal taste. I personally don't see much design difference between these new figures and the ROTF ones, but I liked ROTF, so therefore I like these equally. I can't say these are better or worse than past movie lines or Generations, but equal. .

Seems like Hasbro is just pushing the new gimmicks on the DOTM figures, and mechtech is the main priority over the actuall figure's budget. But if you've read my other posts, like my Jolt rant you've heard it before.
They get away with it this time, though since Thundercracker really doesn't need a new head mold since he is a direct repaint. If he was a new mold though, I'd probably say different.
Not like this figure really matters to me anyway, the only Thundercracker I will be getting is the Generations one on the way to my house as we speak.

I mean, it's not even an issue with the look of the movies, but I have a feeling that a lot of fans are going to spend the next year buying toys that they very much regret the following year.
I agree. At this point, the movie toys are very been there....seen that for me at least, and I know I can't be the only one who thinks that. All disdain for over 9000 bumblebees aside, I can't see much of any differences between any of the reoccuring character figures over these three lines. Granted I haven't collected many of them, bcause over all I think they stink, but I can't easily imaging many kids looking at the various BBs and really, really noticing much difference. I know that one has a gun and one has an ax and one has a cannon and one has a visor and one has a weasel, but I'm unconvinced that there's really that huge a difference.
That said, as a Seeker fanboy, I'm happy Starscream will be a deluxe, as that means Seeker repaints will be cheaper to buy than voyagers. And, I think this mold looks much nicer with some actual color as Thundercracker than in Starscreams' boring "color scheme" of early 00s' awesome tribal bro tats.

I know I'm double-posting here, but I agree again.
Recently Ive been so disinterested in Transformers toys that it makes me sad. I don''t know if its poor distribution or what, but I can't find anything past Skullgrin and Blurr, or Huffer and Smolder (STILL!!!) and I just know that almost without fail these junkheaps will soon be crowding my local stores and I still won't have Air Hammer or whatever his name is, or Highbrow. But, I've also been getting interested in other realms of fiction and can't find toys for those either, but that isn't causing my interest in them to wane like it is with TFs.
In 07 the movie figs were nice and new. Now, its just more of the same. I think the movies are coming out too fast for the toy designers to sufficiently make advances in product, and that's translated now into 'here's some junk for the third movie'. Mechtech seems to me to be the lame gun version of the PCCs, and people hate those, but we have to be edgy and kewwlz and love the movie things, and maybe I'm the only Winston in the crowd but that rationale is perfectly clear to me. Even in pictures the plastic of these toys looks thin and cheap.
They may turn out to be wonderful, but it sure doesn't look that way now. Sign me up for Skyhammer and Sentinal, and any Seekers, and then get this crap out of my store. And we all know that we are going to get these forced on us at retail. No, no one's going to make me buy them, and I'm not being stupid enough to claim that. What I'm saying is that these will be more prevalant than other TF options. 'Member in 07 when finding movie figures was new and exciting? When TRU did that big release night and there was the big display and stuff? Maybe the magic is just gone from these toys.
Im glad some people are stoked for them, and I hope they live up to your hopes and dreams. But I'm already bored with movie and merchandise.
