Usually I don't whine about this kind of stuff, but it's irritating enough that I wanted to rant.

The figure itself is pretty good. I expected a brick and got what I paid for. The problem I have is with the frikkin gun. It's big and doesn't do much for sitting on a shelf.

I would have preferred two guns that combined into one big gun. That way I could have him dual wield without looking weird on my shelf.

Anyone else take issue with the ridiculous gun?

The gun is actually one of the only things I like about the figure, honestly.

If I do buy this guy, it'll be on clearance. Low cut clearance. Loooow.

The cannon is cool.
If you dont like it,you can fill Optimus Prime with Mech Tech weapons.

At first, I didn't knew what to do with that huge thing. It was not fine in front, and it was a waste if it was hidden in the back. I find out that it could be standing up, adding a lot of volume and weigh on an already huge figure.

Just add some big Mechtech weapons in his hands and you are all set!

I removed the 2 screws from the pivot point so it's a separate piece now. OP looks awesome with just the helmet on. The BFG is sitting as part of my movie display, kinda looks like another spaceship.

that gun is the movieverse version of rid magnus' cannon to this day i dont display it with him and its not even half as massive as this thing. >:oP

i'm also not a fan of the gun. it's too over sized,too heavy. too overly gimmicked. it does look ridiculous & kinda toddler looking.

I never even took it out of the box. But now I might do it just to remove the helmet.

This was my biggest negative complaint about toy. the added gun just felt like the ultimate toddler friendly gun.

because the mech tech gun is over sized. it's way too heavy for the back port piece that hangs off on the shouders/back. because the mech tech gun is so bit it literally covers up the entire robot head & chest when when flipped forward & used as a robot hands weapons.

personally the mech tech gun doesn't nothing positive for the toy.

IMHO,About the only thing I like on the over sized mech tech gun,is the outer blue robot helmet that fits over the super tiny robot head.
Like Some I grabbed a Phillips toy screw driver & un-screwed the outer blue helmet that was attached to the mech tech gun. I took off the outer blue helmet,made it a seperate piece & attached it to the tiny robot head. because the combined super robot mode looks awful with a tiny robot head.

Needless to say after playing with the DOTM Ultimate optimus prime toy for a couple of days. I returned it back to walmart & got my money back

Agree w/ LOST C, great cannon for this fig. You can load it up w/ other MT weapons, or leave it flipped over on his back and use it as a thruster pack.

FWIW I took the spring out of mine so you can leave it in its expanded mode.

I got it for $59.99. There were only two left. Won't bore you with pics because you know what it looks like but all I can say is that despite what some think of it, I think the thing is EPIC. He stands up straight and holds the gun without falling forward. He stands up straight with the gun folded onto his back. He's huge. I have no complaints. I spent $200 for a Henkei Classics Prime + DIA Commander trailer/Armor that is no more pose able fully armored up than Ultimate Prime. I'm over what I thought were issues with it before getting it. Happy with the purchase. Good add to my "DOTM" collection.
