Earth in the Beast Era

Okay, I know a lot of fans think that the Maximal Elders forbade interraction with Earth in the show, but where did that come from? It was never overtly stated anywhere in the series. Was it inferred from bits and pieces or did one fan's imagination get too out of hand?

I never heard of that. In the show or on these boards. The only off limits thing I can think of is Depth Charge going into a restricted zone in his debut ep, and that was because of the temporal anomaly he got caught in.

probably the larger transformers live there. Metroplex and the likes, since Earth still has a lot of energon. Probly there is some embassy or something.

I think that impression came from the stated fact that the Golden Disks gave the location of a secret source of Energon or something. If the bots and the humans were still interacting regularly, why would Earth's location be a state secret?

I haven't heard that either. The only occurence I can think of where the TF's weren't allowed to interact w/humans was in Infiltration. That wasn't even BW, it was G1. I doubt that protohumans on earth in the BW era even remember the Maximals or Predacons. So, other than the Ark & the Nemesis, there's no history of the TF's on earth. So it didn't really matter if they interacted w/the humans at all.

And even if they did see a giant huminoid robot walking around, it would transform into an animal and so they wouldn't understand it, and thus create the legend of half man half beast "demi gods" roaming around.

I'm talking about the Maximal Elders during the same era that the Beast Warriors were from, not when they were in the show.

The Golden Disk thing is an interesting point, but I think that can mostly be chalked up to the writers still working out the continuity at the time. In the intervies on my DVDs they said at that point they were just throwing totally random stuff in (like stonehenge) thinking they could come up with a use for it later, but I'm not even sure that one line qualifies.

You mean, the BW warriors weren't allowed to act with Earth of the future (or Earth 300 years after the Great War)? I've never heard that, but there's probably one line in BW that indicates it if there has been fan-talk.

Well that's just it. I've seen every episode hundreds of times by now, and I never heard a line directly implying that the Maximal Elders had prohibited interaction with Earth. BUT it's a surprisingly prominent theory elsewhere and I just want to know where people got that idea.

I doubt earth would exsist in 300 years if tf stayed. I also belive that it is not the place that is hidden on the golden disk, but the time. Remeber megas transmision wanted a transformer with transwarp teck to find the disk (aka to arive in the past.) Mabey that is the reason the disk was gaurded

Like people say, the Golden Disk contained the temporal coordinates of Earth, not the spatial. I can understand why that was guarded, as you don't exactly want people messing with your history. Although Earth would have moved so the coordinates of Earth spatially at that point in time would also be encoded on the disk.

I see no reason why the Maximal Elders would prohibit contact with Earth circa 2300. Unless we had degenerated into a massive world war and the Elders just got sick of us.
The Elders didn't teach the civilians about the Great War, so the maximals didn't know that much about Earth or Cybertron during the G1 era, which explains why they treat them with such reverence (finding the Ark, finding Iacon, finding the Plasma Energy Chamber, etc). That and the fact they tried to play god and create an indistructible warrior kinda implies these elders were not very nice people.

IIRC, the line in question was spoken by Optimus Primal, who had no clue that there was an inscription on the edge of the disk from G1 Megatron; he was referring to the spatial coordinates of Earth as they are recordedon the Voyager disk.

I thought only Megs knew about the other Megs inscription. Which begs the question how did he find out about it? (I'm thinking Soundwave).

Which line are you thinking about Caelus? The only one I can think of is Primal stating in the pilot that the disk gave the location of a major source of Energon (something I doubt humans would state).

That is the line I'm referring to. The Voyager Disk has directions to Earth, IIRC, as well as a series of images that depict its natural wonders etc.

I assumed that the TFs remembered Earth was a source of Energon, that was after all the driving force for one of the last decades of the Great War. Even if they remember nothing of Earth however, the disk, IIRC, had picturses of oceans, volcanoes, storms... All potential sources of energy.

True, but the maximals didn't even know it was Earth. The Preds clearly did (I know it wasn't decided to be Earth till well into the series, but I'm going from a story viewpoint, not a production viewpoint) as stated by Dinobot about landing on the wrong planet. But that goes into the Tripredicus Council, not the Maximal Elders. I don't think the Elders even knew it pointed to Earth, they just thought it was some generic planet with volcanoes, oceans etc. But I doubt they even knew Earth was a source of energy, considering the Elders classified EVERYTHING about the Great War. Primal barely knew the name Starscream and he was one of the major players of the war.
