This has nothing at all to do with Transformers or toys of any sort, but I wanted to get this out there (because I'm getting it out anywhere I can now)

Ok, the story goes like this, I play bass in a metal band in the Ohio Valley (yea, i know I'm super cool, get over it haha) anyways, We had a benefit show to play and allllll proceeds were going to go to the Easter Seals (great charity right?). That's what we thought as well. Only to come to find out that since we've had this planned for 1 to 2 months and the show is this Sunday the 15th....Easter Seals pulls out their sponsorship and state that they do not the money anymore because they "do not approve of the style of music involved with the show".

So according to them if you listen to metal, have piercing, or have tattoos, you money is not GOOD enough to help children across the USA.

So to anyone out there in transformer fan internet-verse place.....take a few seconds out of your online time if this has pissed you off, and Email the Easter Seals directly from their site and let them know that you believe it is a grievous error on their part. the link is http://www.easterseals.com/site/PageServer?pagename=ntl_contactus

yea, I've just spoken with one of the event organizers about a new charity. He's leaning towards United Way, Goodwill or the Humane Society.....either way it'll be a benefit show one way or another, it's still just dumb of Easter Seals to refuse money,...especially when we're in an economic depression here and all.

They beg and beg and beg for our money but when it comes to accepting it, nope. I only open their mailings when it's a calender. Never once sent them money and never will.

Guys please try to remember that the Easter Seals are a relegious orginazation and as such have relegious limitations on the money they can accept. If you want them to be respectful of you you must also be respectful of them.

Just because they don't approve of your behavior does not mean that they are disrespectful of it and you certainly need to be respectful of them regardless. And if your no bodys sheep then who did you support for President?

See, this confuses me.

Sure, they may be a religious charity. But isn't it kind of messed up that they're all gung-ho for the help, then at the last minute pulling out because someone doesn't approve.

Thats the exact same thing as me asking for help for weeks, accepting the help saying "awesome we'll do it on X" then a two days beforehand calling the person and telling them "sorry you can't help paint my house because I don't approve of you"

Thats a dick move.

If you want to help someone out, if you want to do a good deed, why the hell should you be discriminated against just because you may not fit the norm in someones eyes.

but in quoting the Easter Seals website itself

No where in there does it specify religion or musical preference.

So if I have a child that ends up having autism they won't help my child if I'm not Catholic and listen to Barry Manilow? (must have missed that in their FAQ section.

well, maybe I'm not catholic, but i DO love me some Barry Manilow,...at least let me donate some cash!

Vapor I'm sure they'ed have no problem with you donating money on a personal level its the event that for them is realy providing the problem. The best thing to do is just be respectful of them and shrug it off no hate letters protesting them in the streets exctra; Just find a new a-religious charity for the event and if you realy want to give money to the Seals do so on a personal level.

And all you morons on here jumping up to protest them; save it for the political sheep who protest everybody who doesn't agree with them.

But how many people are actually protesting them? All I've seen said are a handful of people sending a complaint stating that they believe what they did was wrong. Which is what should be done.

Now I may be wrong as to what people actually e-mailed to them. Which happens occasionally.

However that is all Vapor asked to be done, e-mailing a complaint saying they made a mistake.

Nobody said "protest these evil hateful christian/catholic organization!"

Also what the hell does this have to do with politics and who someone picked for president?

I'm just saying that they are discriminating us based on our musical tastes and our youth, which is wrong.

We've never been a disrespectful bunch of people at all towards them or anyone else for that matter.

And also all along for the past month and half to two months they KNEW that we were having this benefit concert, it had been on the television, the radio, and the newspaper. And we had their full support for the donations. This week (4 days before the show i might add) they decide that the music doesn't fit with them and they drop off the bill and don't want our money. They had no money invested in this show AT ALL, all they had to do was cash a check from some dudes and help some people out.

that's all, and it's complete crap.

THAT is why I'm pissed.

Yeah screw them, screw them in the ear with a rusty nail. If they can't take their worthless noses out of the damn bible and stop spreading hate to anyone they don't approve of, then they don't deserve yours or anybody else's money. I'm so freaking sick of the hypocrisy of christian charities they will only help those that they agree with. I can see it now "Sorry Timmy, we know that you wanted food and clothes. We even had all the money ready but then we found out that the donors were a heavy metal band. So sorry I guess you'll just have to starve to death now, but at least you can die knowing that we stuck to out christian principals." Because, you know that's what Jesus would do.
