Energon Mega/Galvatron articulation ?s
- Motto: "Doing things my own way and never giving up!"
So I am kicking around the idea of getting an Energon Galvatron to serve as my Classics-verse Galvatron, having gotten rid of the deluxe version.
My big concern is that I have only seen E Megs/Galvy standing like a statue in any pictures I have seen. What is the articulation range of the mold? I would check the galleries here but they are still down. Any one have some good action pics of this mold? Or can anyone fill me in on how much he moves/poses?

Fear not, he's decently articulated. A full list:
Head turns side to side
Shoulders ratchet sideways and front to back
Elbows front to back
Legs go back and forth and side to side
Knees bend
13 points in all.

Energon Galvy is an excellent figure. You can get lots of great poses with him if you like.
He's just ... really, really big. Doesn't look right next to Cyclonus.

He's also very expensive these days. I consider myself extremely lucky to find him for under $60 recently. And that's loose.

To balance things out, I don't own him but have played with him a few times and he's not impressive by today's standards.

I saw one at retail once for $40 (Canadian), but didn't buy it. I just thought "next time!"
So I actually found him loose for $45. Plus taxes, that's under $60, so not bad.

And yeah, not impressive, articulation- or transformation-wise, but still fun and pretty damn cool looking.

I disagree with this entirely.
Not only do I think the figure is impressive (he's one of my top 5 all time TF toys), but I think you're in denial about it.

Yes he is. If you want a version that's at little more size-accurate, go for the Super Link Galvatron G figure. He's about Voyager-sized instead of being a ginormous Leader.Gauntlet101010 wrote:He's just ... really, really big. Doesn't look right next to Cyclonus.

While he does have quite a decent amount of articulation, his legs will look odd due to the leg joints being too far back in his crotch, but he's still a pretty cool figure, I still think the smaller version is a superior figure though, that mold was made for Voyager size. And he pwns Movie 07 Megs any day.

The smaller purple figure is really expencive for what it is, though. I've sorta been wanting that version myself, but can't really bring myself to pay that much. Especially for a figure I kinda already have. And I don't quite like it's colors as much.
Maybe B is fine with those things, tho.
I like the articulation on E Galvy myself and feel it's a great figure. But the size makes it look out of place sometimes, like G1 Galvatron before him. All depends on your display.

The way I set up my displays, I have the Autobots and Decepticons facing off, 'Bots left, 'Cons right, taller figures towards the sides of the shelves, shorter closer to the center. Looks pretty good, like a slightly crowded battle diorama. So his size works just fine for my purposes.

Great mold with good articulation, especially in his arms. His legs have good articulation as well, but sometimes poses are hindered by the joint that allows his knees to bend outward perpendicular to his thighs. It's part of the transformation. Unfortunately, in robot mode, if you try to spread his thighs for an action pose, his knees might buckle outward. I suppose this really depends on the tightness of the joints on your particular figure.
All in all, I find that he's one of my favorite Megatrons, and a highly poseable figure.

With all due respect, while this may be true, he's a whole lot less likely to split, crack, peel, or fall apart than most of today's offerings. That's one of the reason I really like Energon, for the blocky, sturdy feel of the figures as opposed to the more articulated yet flimsy TFs of today.
B-this is a figure that you must have. The paint apps, the afore mentioned sturdiness, an acceptable amount of articulation ( meaning he's not going to do any dramatic Voltron poses, but he CAN pose in many more basic positions without falling over ), and a decent electronic gimmick rounds it out. His color scheme and the translucent yellow parts make a striking contrast to the blander looking Megs version of that mold.
Even if his size puts him out of scale, he's just a really nice looking figure to have.

Hah! No, I'm not in denial. He was a figure that I played with at a friend's house during the shameful period of my life in which I had no idea what was happening in TF world and he failed to reignite interest. That said, I shall be buying an Energon Megatron one day for my Prime/Meg shelf.

I can never get enough of "Classics Galvatron" customs made the voyager Energon Megatron/Superlink Galvatron General mold. I bought an E. Megs to do one but it was missing to many parts.

That is a sweet custom. I guess he would've made more sense being Voyager-sized. But then he couldn't tower in dominion over all the other Decepticons!
