Ever returned a Transformer to a store based on dissapointment?

I just got back from Dollar General and got my $5.00 back for Universe Makeshift (The minicon). Now normally I wouldn't pay five bucks for a minicon, but I just felt like picking up a Transfomer, but when I got into the car, I was so dissapointed by it, I just had to get my money back. The figure it self wasn't so bad (at least for a minicon) but the arms just kept falling off every time I moved them. Furthermore, the legs fell off every time I tried to transform him. Needless to say, that's a mistake I don't plan on repeating. I just hate waiting for new waves to come out. Anyway, back to the topic. Have you ever gotten a refund on a Transformer based on a dissapointment or Quality Control issue.

I returned my TRU Animated Ironhide because it showed up headless. Which was a little disturbing to discover tranforming it the first time. I also got refunded twice for some reason. (so, thanks toyrus!)

I have makeshift and a few other minicons from family dollar; he's by far my favorite from that batch. I put him on Hotshot's shoulder.

Yep.

Not ashamed to say it, either. Sometimes a figure just sucks and it does say satisfaction guaranteed, on the wall.

Who am I to argue with it?

I'm not going to waste good money on an item I'm not going to use that often, if at all. They'll repack it and someone else will buy it later, so it's really no loss.

I've been tempted to return the new Voyager Battle Blades Optimus. I just don't like it. It's arms are practically useless because of the arm blades and the panels on the forearms pop right off. You have to vivisect it to get to the Matrix. The design is too cluttered in general.

If I didn't have a goal to collect every Optimus Prime...

...let's just say I'm keeping the box.

Oh yes I have. The Universe Clocker and something else two pack felt so cheap and nasty I took that back. Some Star Wars Xover figure looked good in the box but there was so much about it that was horrible he went back. Same with RotF Voyager Starscream. I think that's it.

I purchased TFA Voyager Starscream one day on my lunch break. I opened him and transformed him a few times and just wasn't impressed with his simple transformation. At the end of my lunch break I went in and returned him for ROTF Voyager Starscream instead. That was much more satisfying a figure in my opinion. I did end up buying the TFA version in the future, mostly to complete my TFA collection.

Don't like it, don't buy it. There are plenty of reviews floating around the net to judge before buying any figure.

If it's not defective, I don't see why a store should even take it back from you after you've opened and played with it.

I generally agree with you. However, there have been many times I didn't think I'd like a certain figure but bought it anyway. A lot of the times those figures I didn't think I would like in the first place became my favorite figures from that line. So it's kind of a toss up.

I have twice. The first time was when I got the X-Wing/Luke Skywalker SWTF. I really didn't like the figure, and there was a problem in the way the feet were connected to the legs, which seemed like it would eventually make the feet break off. The second figure was Animated Lockdown, a figure with which I was quite disappointed.

This. If it is broken or defective then by all means return it. Nobody has any business returning a figure just because of buyers remorse. If you are not sure about a figure do your research. I have never bought a figure that I didn't enjoy.

You don't have the right to say such things. Everyone is entitled to do what they want as long as it follows the rules. The stores have a return policy for many reasons and one of those is satsfaction guaranteed.

Not everyone has to live by the code you do. You have no right to dictate your personal feelings as though they were rules, to everyone else.

That's not how it works, and you're just going to have to deal with it. Plus it only affects you if you let it. You don't have to buy a returned figure. Grab a sealed one or go elsewhere.

The only person making this a big deal for you is you. I see plenty of people buy used TFs all the time, That's what collecors do all the time. Why would buying a returned figure be any different?

What about a kid who doesn't like it, or it was a gift they don't want, or the parents can't even transform it?

Your answer might be great for you, but it's not a rule, no it shouldn't be, and it's not the end of the world if people don't see things as you do.

Oh, and not every kid or parent watches or reads online reviews, so that doesn't flt either. And you can't go and change what you've said now. You can't have your cake and eat it too, on this one.

You don't have the right to dictate what people have the right to say, so everybody has the right to say anything as long as it doesn't go against this sites rules.

You lost this case.

The only person making this a big deal for you is you. I see plenty of people buy used TFs all the time, That's what collecors do all the time. Why would buying a returned figure be any different?

It's TOTALLY different if the store or Hasbro goes, re-seals the figure and sells it to you as if it was new. These are not different than swapping the toy. In either case, you don't get a fresh, new figure nobody ever played with before you, so you were cheated.
In case of used toys, you know it was used, and possibly bought it cheaper than a Sealed figure, because both you, and the seller knew that the "Ius Primae Open" was lost.

I have yet to return a toy for satisfaction reasons unless it is a defective figure, and even then it’s a toss up if I will, the ones I don’t like get tossed in the custom parts pile and some of the broken ones as well, and if its one I don’t like and have no use for I will wait a few months then sell it on ebay wont get back all the money but part of it at least. Oh and I will stay out of the argument on if you should/shouldn’t do this lol.

The only time I've regretted buying toys was when I was young.
Thing is, even as a kid I always figured, you open it, you need to keep it.
Pretty much everything I get now I enjoy on some level. Even universe galvatron. He's a turd of a figure, but, if you dont touch him, he looks decent. However, with badly made he is, I could see anyone returning him.
A few times I've returned toys before opening them though.

I think I've returned (or more accurately, exchanged) a figure I've opened twice, both times for QC reasons (...and once to BBTS for the same reason.) There have been many figures I've regretted buying (impulse buys mostly,) but I've just lived with my poor decision of deciding to buy it...but that's just me.

I almost always research but sometimes figures still disappoint. Voyager RotF Starscream seemed so utterly awful and badly designed and had to return him.

Sure they're bricks but Rollbar has so much character in his face and a great alt mode.

As for returning a Transformer based on disappointment? I brought back Huffer once. He just seemed so sad once I unpackaged him. He'd mope around, obviously didn't enjoy my company. Just sit at the window all day. Wouldn't touch his Energon. What could I do?

Reviews are usually based on someone else's opinion. Not the same as actually having a toy in hand and judging it for yourself. Besides, in cases like mine a review wouldn't have helped me avoid the QC issues.
