Loving it!

And the moon boots aren't nearly as obtrusive as I thought they might be.

I AM concerned that Takara will eventually do the dinobots, and thus obsolete this guy. But till that happens, I think I'm in.

I know that dinosaur ate plants, but cmon they all had teeth. And some translucent plastic with robotics underneath like Grimlock's dino neck should have been done for consistency. Other than that he looks pretty impressive.

Yeah, I agree the translucent plastic like MP Grimlock would have been cool and added more detail. I also hope there is a some type of flamethrower device in Slag's mouth.

Yea - the body is a bit long, and the hind legs should be larger than the front legs. Also, where they decided to apply gold chrome, looks like there should be translucent gold-ish plastic similar to MP Grimlock's neck.

With all that, I really like him - just not at the price they're offering it.

It's strange - with Classics, I'm willing to drop some big bucks on 3rd Parties. But since MPs are already so cash-heavy, I'm inclined to wait for a really good deal.
You can't compare this to they toy, they are going for show accuracy. Often his body was longer in the cartoon, and some of the length is probably a compromise (like MP-10s legs) so the robot mode looks as close as possible.

As for the price, this guy is going to be quite a bit bigger than MP-10, so (for me at least) the price is acceptable.

Remember - the MP 2.0 line is predicated on a compromise between cartoon & toy accuracy. Just going for one or the other doesn't necessarily cut it anymore. Besides, just because the cartoon sometimes portrayed him with a longer body & even hind/fore legs doesn't mean he was never close to the toy's proportions. For example:

Also, a flame accessory would be a nice touch. ;)

I think the alt mode body proportions looks pretty good. I am curious how weighty he will feel in alt mode. You would figure that the back half in alt mode must be pretty hollow in order for the alt mode legs to fold up and be incorporated into the bot legs.

FT should sell those MP Grimlock moon boots separately. I'd be a buyer for around $10 maybe $18 the highest.

Hmmmm, thinking of cancelling my preorder with those other not-dinobots on the horizon.

I at least want to see more details before I commit to one set or another.
Also there is always the possibility HasTak will surprise us with more MP Dinobots in the near future, especially if the movie versions garner interest.

Knowing HasTak,Instead they'll simply recolor the TF4 Generations Dinobots toy in G-1 colors & simply call it a day. Perhaps these wil get released as store or convention exclusives.

I rather see HasTak do a Leader scale MP Galvatron first before the MP Dinobots.

Perhaps 2016,Takara has too many MP TF's already planned for 2014 & 2015. Takara in 2014 will be dominated by the MP wheeljack,Bumblebee & there repaints. 2015 Takara is doing MP Starsabre. MP victoryleo will probably get made since he combines with Starsabre.

I'd rather see Classics Generations Dinobots toys in 2015. That homage the 1985 G-1 Dinobots toys. I don't want to see any FOC Dinobots toys in 2015. FOC Grimlock,I didn't like the sculpt.

I agree. I think Takara will produce more Autobot cars, Shockwave, Galvatron, and remaining seekers before potential MP Dinobots.

I like the swap out red faces better than the silver ones. That's some serious Bling on this toy.

The moon boots look a bit silly, but you have to admit, they look really, REALLY good together in both modes.

But had they just shortened him up a little, they would be entirely unnecessary.

Also, his alt mode is just a bit too long, which could have been solved if they had just made him more proportional to the existing Grimlock.

With those changes he would be cheaper too.

Oh, I agree with you on all counts. I have no plans on getting Scoria (I stick to official MPs), but for all the figure's flaws, he still looks surprisingly good.
