Was so tempted by this until I spotted Grimmys shoes :BANG_HEAD:

As mentioned before, just shrink him down a tad. He's just far to big.

I'm certain they did. They probably wanted them (including Grimlock) to not just scale with one another, but also properly with the new MP line (since MP-08 is technically too small to be in scale with the new MPs).

So they've designed this thing to be in scale primarily with MP-10, and as a result Grimlock has to borrow Huggy Bear's footwear and still ends up looking like Slag's bitch. :BANG_HEAD:

For that the should have just made their own Grimlock. Anybody who is willing to pay $800 plus shipping for the other 4 dinobots wont mind buying a properly scaled Grimlock. And theres a handful of people like me who use MP Grimlock for their classics shelf who will be turned off by the extra height. I might have considered buying them if they scaled with MP Grimlock. I wonder if Hasbro is avoiding the rest of the Dinobots because of their new policy on scale after Grimlock was already made.

Yep, agreed. I'm guessing they figured most people wouldn't go for a new Grimlock though since they already paid for MP-08, but they didn't want to piss off those collectors by having a Slag that doesn't scale with him so this is the best and most cost effective solution they could come up with. Who knows? Maybe this is just a stop-gap measure and they will end up doing their own Grimlock and the shoes are just for the collectors who already have MP-08 and won't want to replace him. Of course, if they do their own Grimlock it's likely to be a much smaller production run because of MP-08.

I WANT A NEW GRIMLOCK!!

This is my biggest concern, when it comes to the dinobots. I don't want them to be the scaled off of MP-08. The MP dinobots should be bigger than MP-10, their size is part of their aesthetic. Now, I'm not a total scale freak, there are certain characters that I could forgive for not following the scale guide. But the dinobots need to be at least a head taller than Optimus Prime. MP-08 is the same height as the seekers. I am looking forward to getting not-Slag, and getting some new shoes for Grimlock, and hopefully we will someday get a whole new Grimlock in proper MP scale.

I agree with you, but it sucks for me because MP-08 (Grimlock) scales great with classics figures. They could have gotten 800 bucks from me if they had gone with the Grimlock scale. They’re loss. They better hope Hasbro doesn’t do any more MP Dinobots and ruin their plans

Ill still buy this, Im not totally slavish to scale when its close..not to say its not mildly disappointing....I think I have less of an issue w Grimmy being a bit short than w slag being taller than him. I don't see myself using these booster shoes. Maybe he might have to move behind someone to hide them....

As for Skyfire, we went from no MP scale options for years to 4 possible options in 3 weeks! Gonna have my own Skyfire shelf w any luck :D

Had a closer look at the G1 Scale Guide and I stand corrected. He is quite close to the right scale with MP-10. Going to keep an eye on this after all.

I'm not sure whether to make a joke about the platform shoes being behind or ahead of Grimlock's time... y'know, cuz he's a dinosaur and platform shoes wouldn't be around for- ah f*ck it! #-o

I'm also going to mirror the sentiment that they should have scaled Slug more to Grimlock than the other way around. Waste of plastic.

This is a waste, sure it looks fantastic. But the Dinobots are definitely getting official MP releases, along with a new Grimlock.
And Grimlock looks hilariously bad with those new shoes. If they wanted this to work properly, and still go with upgrading MP 08, they should have included new larger lower legs, larger arms, and a larger head for Grimlock. That way it wouldn't look so ridicules and still be cheaper than doing a full figure.

They should make MPs of things that won't be officially made, like the weird Japan only cassettes, Alpha Trion, the Quintesons etc. Damn I would love an MP Alpha Trion, or Quintesson.

We are in full agreement. That's why so far, the only "MP" 3rd party stuff I've bought have been the KFC combiner cassettes because I'm convinced that eventually everyone else will be done. Those you named would be excellent choices for third party MP releases because I don't think Takara would ever do them.

Oh, and MP Alpha Trion FTW :D!

Rumour has it, that the people working on the KO MP-10 are also working on a upscaled KO MP-08.

As for Takara releasing all of the dinobots in proper scale, who knows when that will happen. There is still a large roster of characters for them to go through. The rate at which the MPs are being released has dramatically increased, but is still fairly slow, with approximately four new characters per year(not including black and yellow repaints). I may be wrong, but we may not see any dinobots within the next five years.

No, just basing this from what Takara has been saying plus other factors.

Takara stated that they plan on doing all the characters based on original toy release Year, they're almost done with 84, which is why it's been mostly Autobots.
Then there is that the Dinobots are going to be in the 4th movie, based on that list of toys we got recently, they're going to be featured heavily making them a little more well known.

On top of that the Dinobots are kinda big in our fandom, so we'll see them eventually.

My guess is, we'll see the first at the tail end of 2014/ beginning of 15, at least pre-order wise.

This fig is damn sexy!! Too tall by far but i understand the reasoning behind the scale they're shooting for. Dinobots are meant to be massive, as we all know.

I'm more interested in seeing the other three though. Mostly Snarl.

Grimms moon boots are a ridiculous add on. Again...i get it but it's unfortunate.

Nevertheless....this is a near perfect Slag as far as i'm concerned and will be following this project closely.

It's about time somebody started doing them and this is a good company to do it. Quakewave is a super solid figure and extremely well constructed. I'm sure their Dinos will be just as good and worth the money. The value will be there in regards to the quality....IMO.

The main figure, they can keep. The moon boots are the best part about this set. It makes Grim the same height as MP-09 & MP-10.

If anyone buys this & wants to sell the moon boots,i'd pay $15 for them.

Apparently the guys behind KO MP Grimlock are releasing a slightly oversized version of it so it would be in scale with this new Slag... so Fanstoys offer the Tom Cruise shoes to those who would rather keep their official one. Whatever.
