I love how they're poking fun at KOs while at the same time sad that I will probably never own this because it's more limited than almost anything else they've ever done.

If I cant buy the original, I wouldnt be opposed to a good KO. Ill be all over this. But hope they come in uncarded versions. I have no interest in that MISC crap. Toys are meant to be enjoyed.

Well, I suppose it is the most obvious recolor of the Stunticons they could do, so this isn't unexpected. Looks cool and all, but I've never been that invested in G2, so I'm more then happy to have the original versions.

It really looks cool how they've packaged it on a card like that for retro goodness, but...

...I also find myself agreeing with Rated X here. Mind you, my response would be to just say, well, take it off the card, then! But I suppose it is a little easier taking a $12.00 toy from Walmart off the card, as opposed to a $60ish third party toy. It would have been awesome if they'd made these packaged on resealable cards, but unless I'm missing something, it looks as if that isn't the case.

You know what would be a crazy, wacky recolor of these guys, that might almost make me interested enough to want to buy the set again? What if they actually did an Autobot recolor? Give us Diesel in Optimus Prime colors, Car Crash repainted as Sideswipe, Down Force as Mirage, etc... I wonder if that would look cool or not? Anyone out there with digi-bashing skill keen to do a mock-up? (And who would T-Bone and Last Chance be as Autobots?)

Never mind, looks like someone actually did digi-bash this over at the TFW2005 forums.

They went with Jazz for Last Chance, and it looks good. Not sure who that is that they went with for T-Bone... Windcharger, maybe? I suppose it fits the mold... But since we already have one red car with Car Crash as Sideswipe, I question why we'd need two of 'em and rather they have done a character who is a different color. But other then that, this digi bash looks pretty much like what I'd have imagined.

I'm hearing reports that the carded version is the exclusive and that he'll be available in a set with the rest further down the road.

Think if FP wants to maximize more profits. They release the G-2 colored version of Menasor in a beautiful art gift set box. Maybe even give buyers a discount on the gift set to get more to buy this.

For anyone expecting a G2 Menasor out of this is most likely going to be disappointed. This was a G2 Breakdown homage released at a convention. The parallels to the actual G2 Breakdown are too many to ignore. I highly doubt we'll see any further G2 repaints.

I would love to be wrong though.

Why? Frankly, it would make sense for them to make it. Yes, it won't sell quite as much as the G1 version, but it doesn't need to. The molds exist now, and presumably the investment to produce the molds was recouped through sales of the G1 version. Doing a smaller production run of a G2 version, as long as they don't over produce it, is basically Fansproject printing money for themselves. On the other hand, not making a G2 version is just letting molds they already have go to waste when they have at least one other use that makes sense.

Believe me, I'd be one of the first to put in a preorder if it comes to pass, but I highly expect it not to.

Another, equally valid possibility is that Breakdown was chosen for this for both the homage to the original G2 Breakdown release, and to drum up interest for an eventual retail release of the full set.

In fact, while I don't have a source handy to link to at the moment, I'm pretty sure either Vangelis or Peaugh (or maybe both) said something to the effect that they were told specifically that the carded Breakdown was a convention exclusive, and that his eventual retail release would see him boxed. (I cannot recall if it was specified if that meant he'd be individually boxed, or boxed as part of a gift set.)

I will agree that until pre-orders actually show up, anything is possible. And frankly, since I'm not personally interested in owning a G2 version, it's all academic to me, anyway. But I think in this case, for those who would want it, there is more cause for optimism then pessimism.

If they release all of them in G-2 colors or not, could care less. Already own the G-1 FP versions. At 3rd party price, My budget can't afford to spend another almost $400 on repaints.

Never cared for the G-2 colors, Prefer the G-1 colors and think they look best on these FP toys.

I think the carded relese is indeed a homage to the original botcon 3H G2 breakdown release as Mkall stated. But I do believe that FP intends to milk the mold and put out a G2 release probably in a box set. Both G2 Maketoys devastor and G2 FOC bruticus seemed to be pretty successful pieces. The card even shows a render of the complete combiner. Fansproject would be fools not to release it. I would jump on it even at $500. Im suprised TFC didnt milk the uranus mold with a G2 version. I would have bought that too. It surely would have sold better than that persesus crap. I would have bought an orange G2 hercules all day, G2 funky colors are so wild they are awesome !

My Kar Krash preorder just changed to "Awaiting Shipment". Hope this means I have him in hand within the week.

Mine shipped too. Indeed, this is one that I never intend to open. Perhaps I can sell it in 15 years for $100,000 to pay for the new Abominus gestalt from MakeToys that only costs $96,499. (Inflation will be a beeyotch!)
