Scroll all the way to the top and you will see that the ugly truck is THIS armor's alt mode...Yes, see the hands. FP, I am disappoint.

I just don't see this having the same appeal as City Commander did back in the days. This seems to be more of an extreme attempt to avoid having to design a whole new figure from scratch. There's too much to call it just "armor". But it's also too little left of the base figure to justify an upgrade rather than a new figure. At least Maketoys threw in their own version of the Laser Prime mold with their Hyper Novae set.

I might be tempted to get this for Botcon's Ginrai, but I don't see the necessity for any other figure.

That might work, although I would rather spend the extra $$$ if Xovergen would do an orange trailerforce. Im getting a bit sick of 3rd parties reluctance to make upgrades for Botcon figures. They must be under the perception that all TFCC/Botcon collectors are stuck in a Hasbro only world. I upgraded my Botcon Scorponok and didnt think twice about it. I figure as long as the original parts can be reinstalled without damage, the upgrade only increases the value.

I think it has more to do with a low-production run mentality rather than the stubbornness of fans.

Thats true, but with the exception of Machine Wars Megatron, have you noticed Renderform has avoided upgrades for Botcon figures ?

Well, those Megatron upgrades were on clearance for awhile... ToyDojo still has a few. I think it's fair to speculate Azim's had more success with retail release upgrades, especially those he keeps in house and doesn't pass along to retailers. That's not to say TFCC/BotCon buyers are stuck in Hasbro's world, but there are more likely a confluence of reasons (lack of awareness, spending priorities, Azim's sporadic and oft-delayed release schedule) that people don't buy the Botcon upgrades.

True. But even hasbro has recognized the value of new heads. Very few Hasbro repaints are exempt from new noggins these days. Even the legends repaints are getting new heads. I seriously believe there is money to be made bring the straight repaints up to par with the newer stuff. I know I would buy em.

It's less upgrade and more armored suit. To me, it looks more like something the figure is obviously wearing rather than the figure being integrated into it.
It's like Cybertronian Exo Squad.

Wow I can't believe this was revealed a year ago!
On some projects I keep wondering; when will this thing come out its been over a year for it already... Then you have this, where they revealed it a year ago and I can't believe it's been a year already....
Looking for:

Seems like a lot of you guys are pretty down on the set. I dunno, it looked pretty good in person, to me at least. I can see myself getting one. I really like armour for TFs and there's precious little of that around.
