For Decepticons:

1: Predaking/Predacons: Largest one do date, and the most successful integration of all of its members in American fiction. Also for being a hint of things to come.

2: Bruticus: The FP pictures of the bot alone make it number 2 on my list. And they have Swindle, arguably the most successful Limb bot. He's so cool, that I want to buy two of them just so i can display him by himself.

Autobots:

1:Defensor/Protectobots: I always thought he was one of the best teams too. And I loved the colors compared to the rest. Also, he has a forcefield.

2: Rail Racer/Team Bullet Train: Hands down one of the best combiners toys to date. He's not awkward to hold, great posing ability for a combiner, nothing funny looking about him, and is stable as a brick. He does it all with only three bots too.

Combaticons all the way. Best look, best form, best Gestalt. They all fit together well (except for Blast Off...a space ship? Really?)

And Swindle is the man.

With the USAF flying the X-37 now, Blast Off seems to fit in with the rest of the Combaticons...Just think of Blast Off as an anticipation of future military technology...

Also remember that the Air Force was toying with the idea of having its own Space Shuttle back in the early 1980s. As a result, Blast Off being a military space shuttle was not too far off from conventional thought even in the 1980s.

Starscream's Brigade was always my favourite episode so has to be the Combacticons. However I reckon Ruination is a cooler name than Bruticus.

I'm gonna follow in Chupacabra's footsteps and post my 2 favorite for each faction:

Autobots:

1.) Defensor -- Mostly for his weird baby blue color scheme, and the fact that he's really the only combiner built almost purely for rescue & defense. Plus, First Aid is a member, and I've always been a fan of Autobot medics (Ratchet is my fav character).

2.) Computron -- I was drawn to him because of so little screen time he got, and the fact that virtually none of the component characters had any real spotlight or development. Naturally, this piqued my curiosity. Also, there's the fact that his toy box art is the coolest of all the combiners IMO, and he's intelligent enough to implement advanced strategy, versus "approach...grapple...destroy".

Decepticons:

1.) Menasor -- He's actually not the coolest-looking Decepticon combiner for me (that goes to Bruticus, hands-down), but I've always loved the Stunticons. Motormaster is probably the coolest combiner leader in all of TF lore, and Dead End is one of the coolest Decepticons, ever. Plus, it's awesome that entire cars serve as his arm gauntlets.

2.) Constructicon Maximus -- I just loved his design, and I liked how he and the other 2 gestalts were guardians of a powerful energon pool, instead of war constructs. I thought he was a fine homage to Devastator, did the granddaddy proud.

Liokaiser, why because when watching Victory he came out and starting owning Autobots. I just had to find the toy figure after that. And the toy makes for a very solid combiner. Plus there was a quick scene where Killbison flips off the Autobots (attached photo I made so you don't have to rewatch Victory to find it). But before him there was Devastator.

He even has a mouthplate, which is awesome!
Still prefer Bruticus though.

The Seacons. It's a combination of the colours, the time when they were around, and their characters. Hence I was happy to finally pick them up at Auto Assembly! My second favourites will always be the Terrorcons.

I also choose Liokaiser. The brestforce has it all.

Cassetticon type chest minions that can attack in beast mode or be used as targetmasters.
Matching hats to coordinate with said minions.
Cool vehicle alt modes.
Those sausage link looking chain weapons that also become spears. Sounds dumb but actually looks really cool.
A bunch of conflicting personalities including Leozack and Hellbat, and Drillhorn who they should all listen to more! ^_^

the lads in hasbro dont seem to be able to do a decent one to save their lives lately but theres an embarresment of riches in G1 !

Toy wise its the predadcons for me. its just such a satisfyingly chunky toy and the colour scheme works perfectly. the only combiner with a better scheme is devestaor and thats solely becase theyre all the same

ive always loved the beast/monster TFs so you can be sure piranacon and abominus were in there too in my regard.

character wise though is actualy really tough. i LOVE the seacons Bios and the most developed has to be the constructicons seeing as theyve actually DONE stuff that mattered when not combined.

while i love the preds only divebomb has had any real limelight and that was facing off over swoop. ditto for the combaticons who only really have swindle developed. i suppose the areilbots and the stunticons have gotten the most development fiction wise but im just not that mad on them

its too hard to choose character wise as most of em got no time.

still from a combined entitiy point of view i really did like what IDW did with monstructor. that had a whole creepy edge to it.

COMPUTRON!!! He's my favourite autobot combiner. Even when separated they are badass crazy ****.

Combined they're all business. You got brains AND brawn there. He has the most powerful mind the autobots have. sure he takes too long when fighting to calculate battle tactics but he still manages to win. I love in the cartoon when he'd say out loud all his tactical calculations> Loved it..... "Grip unbreakable.....CONCLUSION.....intense vibration". I also loved his voice.

Abominus: i don't like him so much in combined mode but the team individually are awesome!! Total maniacs when fighting as a team and not combined.

I'm waiting on my Piranacon to find out if he beats out Abominus. I think he'll play second fiddle to Abominus though cause i've never really seen any cartoons about him or read any fiction other than when Galvatron kicked his ass. So not sure about him but i do like him though.

Of the original G1, would have to go with probably Predaking as the favorite grail of them. Then again I'm only missing him and Menosaur....

While the G1 cartoon was still airing, Devastator was my favorite. But since Beast Wars happened and the Predacons stole my heart, I have more respect for Predaking out of history's sake. Wish I had his toy.

Come on guys. Yeah, I know the Combaticons and the Stunticons are pretty awesome. But the Protectobots were my favorite as a kid and still are. I still have the comic where Defensor and Bruticus faced off. So wish that FansProject could do a full combiner team.

I have to go with the Constructicons. Devastator will always be my favorite. Though Predaking is probably the coolest toy of all of them.

Of course, I am a combiner team junkie, so I like all of them. Just started collecting again and began with the Piranacon reissue set :grin:
