This has been annoying me for quite some time now.

I'm transforming my FE Starscream correctly, pulling the crest back before I tuck his head away for jet mode.

Yet every time I put him back in robot mode, it just gets bent more and more, to the point were I wont dare to transform him again.

He stays in robot mode, period.

But his crest, horn, thingy is forever slightly bent. Iv'e tried the hot water trick, and it works, temporarily.

Is there another way to repair this that I'm not getting? Do I need to turn his head around for transformation or something? I followed the instructions step by step, and it still bends.

Are there any replacements for this in hard plastic? I know there's one on shapeways, but it's such a small piece.

Mine stays in bot mode on my shelf, but I did straighten it and paint it red with some acrylic paint. The paint toughened it up some and seems to help it keep its shape by stiffening it more, though I don't know how much help it would be if you transform him on a regular basis.

Iv'e only transormed him three times. Once out of packaging, the next to get the hang of it, and the third time for the hell of it. I noticed it started to bend after the second time, but I wanted to get the hang of it, so I did it one last time. He's in glorious robot mode right now, but his crest is bent ever so slightly one way, and it's annoying. Would Plastic Adhesive work?

It probably would. Anything to harden it up and hold it in place. Just straighten it out and then apply the adhesive and you should be good (assuming you don't get some unforeseen reaction between the adhesive and the rubbery material the crest is composed of).

Wait, do you mean it gets bent to the side? I haven't noticed that and I spent most of Christmas day transforming him.

You need to fold it back for transformation. But whenever I transform him, it bends the rubber to the side once the head is folded inward. It presses up against the inside of his body or something to that measure. It's very annoying, especially since if I wanted to move everything, Id'e have to transform him for space, which would only make it worse.

I just transformed my Starscream again. On mine the crest doesn't get squashed anywhere. There's even a tiny groove in the chest for the crest to sit in.
