The second is obviously this figure. He's a nice figure but in most collectors oppinions, it's too small to be a good Shockwave on a classics-style shelf.
The third is the recently-seen TF: Prime Beast Hunters Shockwave, who looks pretty good, but we really haven't seen too much of him yet. Apparently the red spiky armour can be removed.
Finally, if you wish to be patient, there is going to be a voyager-sized release of this guy, currently Masterpiece-sized. However he won't see release until 2014.
I would suggest waiting either for Prime's Shockwave or the 3rd party one unless you can get FOC Shockwave for really cheap.

Get the figure, it's a good 'un.

You also dismantled it to create Space Case, not sure that still counts.

FoC Shockwave is actually in scale with his fellow FOC toys. In the cutscene after Megatron chases a newly-coronated Starscream from the gladiatorial arena, you can see that Shockwave is shorter than Megs. So he's not quite as large as some might imagine.
In short, I recommend getting him if you have a dedicated FOC shelf on display, but he's way too small to scale in with your neo-G1 toys, especially if MP-10 OP is your chosen G1 Optimus.

There's also this still from "Revenge of Bruticus" where Shockwave is a tad taller than Starscream, considering they're right next to each other. But again, I won't complain either way.

Except for the Combaticons.
But he does scale well with Generations Megatron, Soundwave, and starscream, and in my display the four gather, like a Decepticon high command war council.
And, of course, it's Shockwave, and his first new Hasbro mold in a while. He's worth getting for that reason alone.

Uhhh....so, a year is "a while?"

Fair point.
Still, the movie aesthetic divides some folks, and I'd consider Aligned Shockwave much closer to his G1 incarnation and his movie self to be far less interesting, if better scaled.

I agree.
Speaking of Movie Shockwave, I'd have preferred a DMK kit for him rather than a toy. He doesn't even transform in DOTM, so you might as well make the most of it and have a non-transforming, but super-accurate and in-scale figure of him.
Ditto DOTM Megatron, although he does have an alt mode.
