A lot of people seem to think that Starscream is smarter then Megatron. Starscream is smart but he lacks Megatron military genius and creative thinking. It has been stated countless of times that Megatron is ont of the most intelligent transformers.

Don't get me wrong Starscreem is intelligent and cunning when it comes to deceiving people but he is not a military genius like Megatron.

By 2005, Megatron had basically won. He was in control of Cybertron.

The 86 movie. ITs why the bots were on the moon bases and earth and not on cybertron.

Well, concerning G1 animated Megatron...

I always felt some of his more outlandish plans to be... distractions, diversions. While the Autobots are dealing with purple griffins, transfixatron rays and the like, other 'Cons are busy getting every energon cube they can to Cybertron.

One thing that's kinda cool in the cartoon was that Cybertron seemed to be reactivating, re-energizing as time went on. We see Shockwave with cubes, with more and more minions. Where'd he get the power from I wonder? :-?

Megs kept sending cubes via space bridge. also Cybertron wasnt out of energy, just low. with most (named) tfs gone, and a bunch in power-save mode, there was still energy to be had.

That's a great point. Megatron G1 did conquer the entire planet of Cybertron without resorting to an implanted mind control virus unlike his Beastwar namesake. Now that takes brass and some sort of gravitas. If Unicron hadn't shown up, who knows how long the Megatron dynasty would have lasted?

Maybe low, but still in the red zone. Cybertron needed fuel. Megatron got it to Shockwave.
