I'm really tempted to get the G1 Six Shot Asian Exclusive reisue. I love big Transformers and this one come with a shiny coat of metalic paint. However, it's still around 130$ plus shipping. The metalic paint is nice, but seeing what it did on Beast Machine toys worry me. How can I be sure it will not flake-off in the future?

Also, I see lots of original vintage Six Shots available on Ebay for less than 1004 shipped to Canada. And they are 100% complete and in great condition!

I'll be geting a G1 Six Shot for sure. But what is the more worth it? the vintage original, or the ironically 50$ more expensive shiny reisue?

I believe that most folks think it's a bit of a silly release especially in regards to the new paint apps for that enormous of a price tag.

Just get the G1 and be happy. Try and get a super minty one if you can find it and you'll still save money.

Others may say different and that an "encore" release is always better than a G1 antique but i think it's cheating. The charm of a vintage piece that's minty and has survived the test of time is far more appealing (too me) than a new one with a flashy paint scheme. There's no thrill to the hunt in my opinion and no real value.

That's my opinion as a collector. [-(

I agree with you 100%. Only when the G1 reeisue is at least 50% cheaper than the original will it be worth it. So yeah, as I wrote my first post, I pretty much made my mind.

Oh yeah, Six Shot WILL be mine. The REAL one, that is.

I have no problem with the new paint apps; I just think it's overpriced. Since everyone else seems to think so, too, I'm hoping it will be on clearance some time next year and maybe I can get it for under $100.

As stated above, I have a feeling that the reissue will end up on clearance. However, I doubt that it will be discounted enough to interest me.

You never know. The exclusive Commemorative version of Piranacon (Seacons) went as low as $29.99 several times. It seems like the minor color changes were enough to keep the buyers away.

I've never understood people's fascination/obsession with owning this figure. Sure, I picked up an original cheap back when I first got into collecting, it's a decent figure ... but it's not spectacular.

I guess because I own him and he's never been a grail I don't get it.

I don't think it was the color changes that turned people off Guy, it was the cr@ppy QC/mold degradation that was the pitch hitter (I btw got one, Piranacon 'cause, well I never owned one in order to get hold of another G1 gestalt)

As for 6 shot, well, if you don't own one but can get a hold of a loose but mint version then go for it! I do understand the concerns on the re-issue, too much bling when they, Takara could have sold it in a more affordable price range.

I wasn't aware of the QC/mold issues with Piranacon. I've disassembled, transformed, and reassembled mine and didn't notice any problems. I paid $50 for it and I don't regret it.

But it seems like no one wants this Six Shot, so I still think it will drop below $100 at some point, at which point I might consider it.

I didn't notice any of the mold degradation on my reisssue Piranacon either. I must have lucked out with that. I am not a huge fan of the color changes, but not irritated enough to convince me not to buy it. I had two of the Seacons growing up, and I wanted the rest of them!

It would be great to have Sixshot go on clearance for $30. I'd like to have one. I'm not particularly attached to the character, but the fact that he changes into 6 different things is cool to me.

I got my Piranacon set for 50$ too and it pissed me off to see at 30-40$ all the time. Still, it IS worth the 50$ I paid for. The fact that he's now on perma-clearance is because (from what I heard) BBTS have WAY to many in stock. People BOUGHT the thing en masse and BBTS still have tons left. It seem it was supposed to be a big retailer exclusive like Walmart or something and something made them change their minds. So, BBTS grabbed the lot. Appart the gun that is hard for a fish to hold, I had no problem with mine. This is a pretty solid set and if you dont have it already, go get it.

However, that Six Shot reisue is ridiculous. It could have been a 80$ reisue if they would have stuck with the original design. Instead, they went for a metalic paint job that may flake over the years, a big-ass leatherette box and a commemorative coin. All these bells-n-wistles added 100$ to the price tag.

As I said, when the loose ORIGINAL that is in great condition is CHEAPER than the reisue, why bother?

Leatherette box? I did get to hold the "Bling bling" re-issue 6 shot and held the box itself. It didn't feel at all like leather, only kind of a scaly like print......on a card board material,obviously if that and the added metal finish is the figure's selling point.......no wonder its a turn off, unless its for hard core fans.

I managed to score my pre owned 3rd Japan re-issue of 6 shot (the Bling version is the 4th) waaaaaaaay back in 2003 iirc in the classic 1980's style box. Cheaper (even for its time) and the nostalgic feeling of the old school box............

I do hope that Takara/Tomy will consider re-issuing Great shot in its standard "no bling box", now that would be a WINNER!

Well, I took the plunge and bought a very good condition vintage Six Shot, 100% complete for 93$ shipped from USA to Canada.

I'm looking forward to finally have it in hand!

. I also have the Shadow Maru remold/repaint from the Brave series. I'm a bit of a completionist though. Considering the price an original G1 Sixshot in minty condition goes for, the price of the reissue really isn't that bad. Still, I suspect that if they'd have done it as a normal reissue (even with the metallic paint job) and sacrificed the spiffy packaging, the price would have been much more reasonable.

As if when they designed that reissue, they onlu thought about the collectors who keep their toys sealed in box.

Honestly, that's the only point of this kind of packaging because most of them are bought online, where you cannot buy the thing on impulse because you saw the amazing packaging in person.

I went ahead and grabbed it for $135 including shipping from a seller based in NY. It's a lot bigger than I realized. I don't feel like I got ripped off in spite of knowing that I could potentially get an original for less, because this one is brand new, not used, and has the nice metallic paint on it. And it has a neato box with Japanese on it. Maybe I'll get bored with it sometime but for now it's a piece of nostalgia that I never got to own as a kid.

I just received my ORIGINAL 1986 Six Shot. For around 93$ shipped from USA to Canada.
It's very tight, very clean, the labels are all there and in perfect condition. Sure, the thing is a brick, but a very awesome brick.

If you want to pay 50% more for a shiny reissue, go ahead. Either way, this is a must have for any Transformers fan.

Not sure why people fall head over heels for current Takara transformers that just have metallic paint and pay 3 times the price while they scorn metallic Sixshot which is cheaper than 3 times the price of a vintage or what a regular reissue (Takara) would cost.

What I scorn is that the shiny reisue is WAY more expensive than a perfect condition vintage original!

A little bling is nice. I'm even willing to pay additional for extra paint apps but in 6shot's case, too high the price. They could have easily packed him in the retro box sans the chrome( well keep the original chrome apps from the vintage) and he would still sell like hotcakes. Encore Devastar and Bruticus more than proves my statement.

Anyway, counting myself one of the fortunate ones to have got him cheap........good luck to todays takers.

Sure, but he's already been reissued like that so why do it again? Obviously a vintage one is not that hard to get ahold of so if that's what a person wants, then get it. Personally I like reissues that have are not just the same figures reissued again and again. I applaud :APPLAUSE:

Takara for doing something different like they did with the recent reissue of Predaking using the gold instead of boring yellow.

I have an original and also this one which I wouldn't have bought if it was the same old thing.
