G2 Thoughts...
- Motto: "Oh Bloody Hell, Now What?"

This Is Actually A Continuation Of A Previous Thread, But I Think It Deserves It's Own Topic...
I Wonder Why There Haven't Been Any Recent Re-Issues Or Repaints Of Any Of The Original G2 Designs(Like The Four Small Cars, The Small Jets, Or Even the Cyberjets).
I Realize That Many Of The Go-Bots In That Toyline Were Recycled To RiD (SpyChangers), But Have The Other G2's Been So Thoroughly Forgotten? (Cybertron Trilogy Designs Have Been Reused Many Times Over, The Thought Couldn't Hurt...)

much as i loved G2, the cyberjets/gobots have been done to death, and most everything else was either G1 redux or not articulated enough for anyone to repaint.
this is of course, ignoring universe soundwave and king atlas. and laser magnus.

Cyberjets Done To Death? I Haven't Seen More Than The Original Six (Airraid, Strafe, Jetfire, Skyjack, SpaceCase, & Hooligan)Plus, Maybe Three Japanese Releases. I've Seen Six Repaints Of Certain Minicons Alone...
And Articulation Isn't Necessarily An Issue, After All, They Are Re-Releasing The Sparkbots And MiniCassettes, Right?
I'm Just Wondering Why They Haven't Been Re-Issues/Repaints Of These Very Unusual 'Formers.
P.S. Repaints Of The Laser Rods Or The Rotor Forces Could Be Very Interesting...

Laser Rod Prime got reissued.
I loved G2. While wasn't started on it, when I was a kid I used to buy toys from the ass-end of G1 (Pretenders, Action Masters and Micromasters) and when G2 came out, I was totally thrilled to have full size transformers that actually TRANSFORMED.
Even though I already have him, G2 Megs deserves a reissue, he's one of the coolest TFs ever made. He was a comparable nemesis to PM Prime.
One awesome G2 toy that I wish I had has to be Dreadwing \ Smokescreen, one of my buddies as a kid had them. I know there's been a bunch of repaints of them, but I still haven't picked one up. That mold is on my wanted list, though.
Though really, most of my favorite G2 toys were reissued G1 toys (Prime, Bumblebee, Grimlock, Devastator, Ramjet) because they actually appeared on the show.
Granted, I got a few other guys, like Drench and Jetstorm, but they weren't as memorable as the guys who were in the cartoon. Same goes for G1 guys from 87-90. You don't see them reissued much either, because they too are pretty obscure characters. Less people are going to care about Scram more than Optimus Prime.
At least characters like Bludgeon and Thunderwing appeared in the comic, the same can't be said for most of the G2 characters.

Well, I Was Referring To The Hot Rod Laser Rods, But I'm Happy Laser Prime Got Put Out Again (Makes It Easier for Compulsive G1'rs To Adjust To The New Movie Prime).
G2 Megs Could Use A Re-Issue Or MP Treatment, That Would Be Cool...
Funny You Should Mention Dreadwing/Smokescreen, I Got A Complete Loose Set I'm Going To Be Bartering/Trading With At Cybcon.....
I Suppose The Obscure Characters Are More Prevalent In G2, But IMHO They Are Some Really Nice Designs. I Guess I'm Just Hoping That Someone Notices Them. Some, Like The Cyberjets, Were Revolutionary For The Toyline (Ball Joints...Incredible!!!

The G2 Megatron was repainted and remolded a couple times now. And the Cyberjets were also released in the Robotmasters line.

G2 was great.
Cyberjet love!
definitely would be great to see some of the more obscure toys repainted.
I know the cyberjets were done in the robotmasters line but it would be nice to see them repainted(and maybe re-molded slightly) to seekers including the cone heads. That would be sweet.

I'll re-state what I said in the other thread:
But like the others have said, there have been some repaints of G2 figures, and it is generally considered that Classic Ultimate Battle Megatron is an homage to G2 Megatron too.
spiritofcat wrote:I think G2 may have missed out in terms of re-issues and repaints because it doesn't have as much of the nostalgia that G1 has, but doesn't have the articulation play value of the more modern lines.
P.S. You don't need to capitalise the first letter of every word when you type. It makes it harder to read. The standard method is to capitalise the first letter of each sentence only.

As I was too young to appreciate G1 while it existed, G2 was my introduction to the world of Transformers.
My experiences with G1 were limited to garage-sale figures.
G2's odd color schemes were clashing at best, but the new molds were of excellent quality- observe the posability of the Cyberjets and the Dreadwing/Smokescreen combo.

In Respect, The More Recent Tf's (Unicron Trilogy) Have Greatly Improved Over G1-G2 Designs. I'm Just A Bit Nostalgic Over The Old Lines.
As A Collector, I Really Also Liked The Beast Wars Designs, It Was Just Hard Adjusting To Them All Being Animals (Probably Why I Only Own Two Of Them, Both Unopened)
I Missed Most Of The RiD Line, But That Was Mostly Lack Of Cash And The Fact That I Had Thought I Had Finally Outgrew Tf's (Cybertron Downshift Sucked Me Back Into The Hobby, That And The Fact That They Finally Released Arcee, Even If She Was A Motorcycle)
Going Back To Topic, The G2 Series Just Seems Like It Was Mostly Ignored By The Fandom, And I'm One To Keep That Memory Alive....'Til All Are One...

No, I agree about Machine Wars being the best series ever. Kinda. As a late teen collector at the time, I loved that it was similar to G1 but not Beast Wars. I never liked that the Beast Wars were fought by 12 bots. No matter the stakes, 6 people fighting 6 people isn't a war it's a gangfight. Machine Wars was the war that broke out on Cybertron after Primal left. And if anything not having a show or comic seemed to help the playability by not limiting the concept. Of course all that went out the window with Beast Machines. All in all, the toys were better than G1 and G2 and kicked ass before RiD upped our expectations on articulation. For the first time in 5 years Optimus was a truck again. Couldn't beat that with a stick...

While I liked Beast Wars, yeah, I liked the Machine Wars line, too. I was glad to see TFs as vehicles again. I grabbed Soundwave, Starscream, Sandstorm and Mirage from the line, albiet the only relation the MW characters have with their G1 counterparts are their names...
It's a shame it wasn't anything more than a one-wave KB toys exclusive thing. It would have been awesome to have two main lines running concurrently.

Think about it man. It had no accompanying storyline which meant no stupid characters and no annoying kids!

Plus the Stalker mold was used! HURRAY!

Sorry Burn, it is you who is wrong. VICTORY IS MINE!

The large G2 Megatron was barely-repainted into Megastorm for the Japanese Beast Wars 2 line, not Car Robots.
As for RID, gogleman374 was probably referring to Destructicon Bludgeon, repainted from the smaller Hero Megatron mold and released in Armada-style packaging as a KB exclusive, but with the RID logo.
