Mega Man III (GB)
Skull Man has crumbled into a pile of bones, so guess who's on my list? Sonic! No wait, the Mega Man Killer, Punk. He's hard, but manageable if you pay real close attention.
Right, Wily Castle is out of the way, now it's off to Wily station in the middle of the ocean!
The resident Rewind... well, half of one

Got the "Real Ending" in peace walker. Not too shocking. Kind of expecting it, as I heard you had to fight Zeke, and Zedornov couldn't be escaping like that all the time without help...

Anyway, that's not to say that fight wasn't balls-to-the-wall awesome! Amazing in fact! Very inovative, and the soundtrack and situation made it very different from any other fight in the game.

But, if I can get a few questions answered, Id'e be highly
greatful.

1. Exactly why did the "les enfant terribles" happen? If the big boss wanted sons, why not shack up?

2a. In MGS 3, is that the same Ocelot as we see in later games? Sure, he's young in three, but I could have swore he said his name was "This" and not the "That" Ocelot's real name is. He said it different in MGS 3. In later games its...Shalashaska?

2b. Another thing about Ocelot, at the end of MGS 3, him and snake left on, well, lets say good terms? I mean, snake shot him in the face (or at least I did). But then he gave him that smokin' gun solute and jumped out of the vehicle, never to be seen again. Same guy?

3a. Metal Gear Solid 1 aside, in any other game, do they ever REALLY get into more detailes about the "les enfant terribles?"

3b. If Solid Snake is Big Bosses son (one of them anyway) Why did he send him to destroy himself?

3c. I realize of course, that he could have sent him right into grey foxes trap in part one, but I havn't finished it yet, still all spoilers up until MGS 4 are welcome, as the NES games arn't really good at telling the story, so a little explaining is welcomed here.

4. Were does "Ghost Babel" Fit into all this? Right after 1 I assume?

Sorry about all that, but I'm to lazy to google all that crap. I tried on SOME of it, but couldn't get to far without venturing into spoiler littered territory. It was like tip-toeing through a minefield. Luckily for me, Shadowman of someone of equal knowledge may have a MINE D. to help me out. Thanks in advance to anyone who takes on the chore of multi-quoting that SOB ^

Because Zero wanted a Big Boss of his own. Big Boss didn't just "shack up" because he was sterile, he couldn't produce kids the normal way.

BeastProwl wrote:2a. In MGS 3, is that the same Ocelot as we see in later games? Sure, he's young in three, but I could have swore he said his name was "This" and not the "That" Ocelot's real name is. He said it different in MGS 3. In later games its...Shalashaska?

Yes, they're both the same guy. Shalashaska was just a nickname, and I seriously doubt either Adam or Adamska were his real name.

BeastProwl wrote:2b. Another thing about Ocelot, at the end of MGS 3, him and snake left on, well, lets say good terms? I mean, snake shot him in the face (or at least I did). But then he gave him that smokin' gun solute and jumped out of the vehicle, never to be seen again. Same guy?

Throughout MGS3, Ocelot developed tons of respect for Big Boss. If you pay attention, he clearly takes every piece of advice Big Boss gives him to heart, and when you fight Volgin, you can hear him cheer Big Boss on, refusing to fire on Snake per Volgin's orders, and even tossing supplies to Big Boss. In the end, even after he fails, he doesn't really care. Big Boss even invited him into Foxhound.

BeastProwl wrote:3a. Metal Gear Solid 1 aside, in any other game, do they ever REALLY get into more detailes about the "les enfant terribles?"

Well, yeah. They get into a bit more of the specifics in MGS2 (Particularly about Solidus) and Eva details basically everything surrounding it in MGS4.

BeastProwl wrote:3b. If Solid Snake is Big Bosses son (one of them anyway) Why did he send him to destroy himself?

He didn't. During Metal Gear, Solid Snake was still just a rookie, and Big Boss fully expected him to fail. Big Boss never wanted his "kids" and even admits, at one point, that he never thought of Snake as a son.

BeastProwl wrote:3c. I realize of course, that he could have sent him right into grey foxes trap in part one, but I havn't finished it yet, still all spoilers up until MGS 4 are welcome, as the NES games arn't really good at telling the story, so a little explaining is welcomed here.

Basically, Big Boss's entire plan in both of the original games was to cause a ton of chaos as a big middle finger to the Patriots, and Zero's flawed view of the Boss's ideals.

BeastProwl wrote:4. Were does "Ghost Babel" Fit into all this? Right after 1 I assume?

Pretty much, but it's non-canon.

It's fine. I'm working on my PhD in Metal Gear.

And before you ask, that whole "Inferior/Superior genes" malarkey was a big fat lie they told Liquid just to piss him off so that he'd push himself to prove them wrong. Sure, this is basically just Hideo trying to save face in the wake of a really, really awful error, but still, when you think of it as a lie, it makes sense.

Thanks. I never got around to finishing Portable Ops, So I havn't a clue what happened to Major Zero... I made it up to the point were you fight Python, and a little after that, then I had to give it back.
On a related note, Peace Walker was awesome, even if every single boss was a vehicle.

GAME OVER BEATEN! With Punk beaten I got the very handy dandy Screw Crusher. Very environment-friendly, get lot of shots for your buck. ;)
Wily Station is not in space for once, but in the middle of the ocean. Strangely, no water physics. Thank goodness, but the stage was still long, with another Giant Suzy as the mid-boss. The Wily Machine was interesting. Just jumps from one side to another, but the strangest thing was that it had eyes  The second form is, disappointingly, stationary, and annoying. Still manageable with the Screw Crusher ;)

So now, Mega Man IV with Ballade is next. Wish me luck ;)

btw What do I need to do to have my computer record things from the TV? I'm planning a series of videos that require just that ;)

How appropriate, you fight like a cow!

Don't judge me, I've been wanting to say that for years.

Resident Evil 4:
RE4 is officially the second game that I've bought three times for three different systems. The first was Star Wars: Battlefront II. Don't ask. Long story short, I made poor financial decisions in my youth.

Anyway, RE4 and Code Veronica (Which I fully plan to buy as well, since that and RE0 are the only two games from the main series I haven't played) are among Capcom's efforts to get in on this whole "HD re-releases" craze that's been going on.

I think I'm about to fight El Gigante. I can't remember exactly. I seem to remember this game not being so similar to RE5, though. Though there was a lot of time between me playing 4 and 5.

Shadow, man, oooh, that's refreshing!

Also, I bought Resident Evil 2: Platinum and Resident Evil 3 for PC the other day. I'll be buying RE4 for the Wii as well. I have it for the 'Cube and PC, too. I guess we're in the same boat, ain't we?

Time Crisis II [Arcade]:
Killed some time, and low-poly goons, with a friend at the arcade in downtown Montreal today. We made it to final boss but ran out of tokens. We had one left, and I found one on the floor, but by the time we raced to put them in the machine, the countdown timer ran out. FFFFFFF--

Saints Row: The Third [PC]:
Well, at least we had more luck with the Row. Finished the storyline missions in co-op with the Gangstas in Space ending.

Sweet. I own 1, 2, 3, and 4 on PS3 at this point (I intend to get Code Veronica, as well as trying to get my hands on RE0, just for completion's sake) and 5 on PC (Though I might buy the Gold Edition for PS3 when I get the money, if only for Lost in Nightmares and Barry and Rebecca in Mercenaries)

Hehe, yeah. I had it on Wii, PS2 and now PS3.

Resident Evil 4:
Made it to the Island. I never hated Ashley; as far as escort missions go, she's far from the best ever (Protecting Tychus while he pilots the Odin in Starcraft II) and she's far from the worst. (Most escort missions) She's...okay.

No she isn't. Her parts of the game reduce the adventure to Super Babysitting HD, her overt sexualization combined with her jailbaitness is more "Oh, Japan..." than delicious, the part were you play as her is some Nancy Drew BS (and of course there's an upskirt and yelping when she dodges those suits of armour), the character isn't particularly likable (unlike, say, Ada and Luis), and she pretty much has no redeeming qualities. At least you can slap that armour on her and never have to worry about her. Or just straight-up give her what she deserves.

Mega Man IV (GB)
Just stormed through the first half of the game. Bright Man, Toad Man, Pharaoh Man and *sniff* Ring Man are no more. Found the first 4 letters B-E-A-T and acquired Beat, then bought a Energy Balancer from Dr. Light's shop.
Ballade was really easy on the first encounter. Makes me worry for the second.

I actually like the movies. Especially after Wesker shut off Alice's Mary Sue powers, leading to most fights being fought by everyone except her. (Mostly Claire)

Also there's a sequel to Degeneration coming out this year. It's going to star Leon again. I predict he will have a mountain of sexual tension with the female lead that ultimately leads to nothing.

If the RE6 trailer is any indication, the testosterone supplements he was taking during Degeneration have kicked in, replacing his RE2 & 4 femininity and Degeneration trying-to-hard-to-badass-ness with borderline androgyny.

I kind of thought that was his gimmick; he always tries to be a badass ladykiller but always seems to fail. Whereas Chris is basically just a man-sized bicep, Leon is a normal guy who's trying to be a super badass, with the predictable results.

And I was thinking about your comment on Ashley's overt sexualization, and it made me realize that as far as females in Resident Evil go, Ashley is just tasteful. The only prominent female who hasn't gotten blatant fanservice in the games is Shelly, and she's going to be an adult in RE6, so it's just a matter of waiting and seeing what's they'll do.

And the trick to not having Ashley yell for help: Don't let them get her.

Not sure how tasteful sexualizing the kids is, but I see what you mean. It wouldn't be so bad if you could just give her a gun or something. Sure, she'd suck with it, or could only use the default handgun or something, but damn.

What I meant about Leon was that back in 2 and even 4, he had some feminine qualities, such as appearance, Ivy's hair from Soulcalibur, nimble acrobatic abilities and whatnot. Then, in Degeneration, he was all GRIMDARK and I'M BAD. His trying and failing to badass is sorta his trademark, but in Degeneration, I think they took it so far that they tried to make it seem not that he TRIED to be badass, but actually WAS badass, hence his static GRRR facial expression, take-no-crap attitude instead of the confident joker we knew him as, etc. Know what I mean? Seems like they're continuing that in 6, what with his new face and OOH, EDGY STUBBLE and whatnot.

As for Chris, I assume that was just steroid abuse due to PTSD after RE1 and Code: Veronica. "I've... seen things, man. If you went through what I went through, you'd punch a boulder, too. Hey, by the way, you got your tickets to the gun show?"

Shelly's back? And she's an adult? Uh oh.

If you had to compete with Albert Wesker, you'd start hittin' the juice too. He's like if Agent Smith was the Terminator, as played by David Bowie.

From the sounds of things, she's going to be able to fight this time around. Like like Ashley, more like Sheva. She's supposed to be a companion to that guy-we-don't-know-who-he-is. I want to believe he's HUNK.

Resident Evil 4:
BEATEN! Hit Saddler with a Rocket Launcher (As is the fate of all Final Bosses in this series) then got the hell out on a sweet jet ski. Remarkably similar to the final sequence Devil May Cry, considering the influence both games had on each other. (And that Devil May Cry was a prototype for RE4)

Starting Separate Ways. Skanky dress? Check. Cameo by Wesker? Check. Getting my ass kicked because Ada's starting equipment sucks? Check.

Man, that reminds me. I got this sweet-ass jacket for Christmas that looks like Wesker's from 5. Can't wait for it get warm enough so I can wear it for COMPLETE GLOBAL SATURATION

I was thinking the same thing, but I'm not holding my breath. Then again, if it WAS HUNK, it'd be pretty lame, taking him out of his suit, ya know?

You should've just shot him the hell up and kept the red Launcher for your next playthrough. It's worth a nice amount when you sell it.

The start of Separate Ways isn't that bad. Not as bad as dat Ass-ignment Ada. I mean, at least she has the grappling hook, so you can go up on rooftops and nail headshots easily enough.

Resident Evil 4:
Up to Chapter 3 of Separate Ways. I found I was wrong on two fronts:

1. Wesker isn't a cameo, he's Ada's primary contact and shows up at the beginning of each chapter.

2. Ada's equipment doesn't suck, in fact, it's better than Leon's. (Most of it comes already upgraded) The enemies have had a huge health buff, though, such as a sizable group of Ganados all surviving a well-placed incendiary. It's not all bad; the semi-auto rifle has a damage rating of 15 and I was able to kill an El Gigante with only a could bullets and a lot of knifing.

BTW, re-reading your story about the big bosses sons. I'm still a bit confused. Zero did it against his will? I maybe have mis-read a bit, but that's how it sounded to me. and I'm half asleep...

It's really complicated, which is only natural considering Metal Gear. The idea was to both carry on Big Boss's genetic legacy, as well as an insurance policy in case he ever went rogue. Big Boss was in a coma when the DNA sample was extracted, and when he found out about Solid and Liquid, he left the Patriots altogether. As a result, Zero created Solidus, in order to have a perfect copy of Big Boss. He was kind of going insane at the time. There's a bunch of other little bits and pieces to it (Apparently you need Big Boss's DNA, or at least DNA of one of the Sons, in order to access the main Patriot AI) but those are the main reasons.

Wait until you play Sons of Liberty. It's been nearly seven years since I played it, and I'm still finding new info about what was actually going on. And I'm one of the few people who gets it!

See? It ain't so bad. At least you have a knife, too, unlike in Assignment Ada. And the ability to save your game.

Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes [GameCube]:
Urgh... The voices...

Killed about 40 minutes watching the pre-main-menu intro and the briefing videos. The polygonal briefing videos sure are different than the original 2D Codec-like ones. I liked those ones.

Only, after I finished watching them and booted into the system menu to check my memory card, I saw no MGS saved data at all. I guess it only saves your settings and briefing progress if you save a game? I thought there'd at least be a system file, or something. Guess I'll just watch them again next time.

As of Guns of the Patriots, the voices in Twin Snakes are canon. Even when you visit Shadow Moses, the voices you hear in flashbacks are distinctly from Twin Snakes.
