Ill start with mine that I found yesterday.
Got it for 10 bucks at a garage sale. My heart nearly stopped when I was told the price.
Sorry for the poor picture quality.

WTF?! How the... Where... Who would sell that for 10 dollars?! It obviously had to have been bought by a collector since it's a Fansproject piece. Like, did the guy's wife or mom sell it to you by accident or something???
Congrats, but damn!

I agree, is it legit? Or stolen maybe? Run a background check, that's too good to be true!
Optimistic Prime wrote:I guess the person selling them is a friend of a friend. He was telling me the son went off the school and the mom is selling them. Got a lot others as well. I will post more pics later, but I gotta run now. Also got Cybertron Metroplex, Optimus, and Megatron for 15 a piece. Metro and Optimus are NIB and Megatron is loose, and is missing his cyber planet key.

Ah, I've had something similar happen to me before. I once scored a Beast Wars Neo Killer Punch, Stampy, Guildart, and Lio Convoy for 10 dollars. In this case, the woman's husband was a collector and he had recently passed. She was just trying to get rid of his collection because she was trying to move on. I felt a little bad when she asked me how much I thought all of them were worth. I told her they were probably about 15 dollars, but I only had a ten dollar bill on me. She gave them to me and I felt pretty crappy.
Still though, I'm pretty stoked about getting a Killer Punch and Lio Convoy for dirt cheap.

I would encourage you to try to sell these back to the kid. I can' even begin to wonder what his reaction will be when he gets home and finds his collection gone.
It's times like this that makes me glad my mom kept everything I owned while I was away.
It was not his mother's property to sell. I don't care if he's at school or not. All she did was lose her son's trust.

As noble as this sounds, I'd say if you were going to pursue this...... you'd have to find out the circumstances behind it. Did he give her the green light to do so? As awesome of a piece this is and price you got it for....... troubling times call for certain measures. Did they tell him he had "X" amount of time to get things packed up or else....etc, etc, etc....
At the end of the day though, I agree with Robofreak. At a minimal at least think about it. I know I'd not be a happy camper coming home and finding my collection traded in for something else.
WolfDawg wrote:Maybe I'm just an insensitive ass, but I say screw giving the stuff back. It's his loss and the aftermath is between the guy and his mom. Enjoy your Shadow Commander. I have one as well and it's truly a highlight of my collection.

And yes, I know there are probably some circumstances in this that we don't know about, but a Shadow Commander set for $10 is telling me that this kid has no idea his collection is being sold. He might even be a member on this site.
Optimistic Prime wrote:Im not positive on the circumstances, but I do know that whoever the kid is, he got into some bad things. And I believe his mother is just trying to clear his collection out of her house.

Any idea if this trouble he is in is financial or did he get in trouble with his family?
I mean, if his mother is just doing it to be spiteful because he was a little dumb, then I think there's an issue with her. If he was doing drugs, burned bridges with his family and got thrown in prison, then yeah I can understand selling his crap.
Didn't mean to rain on the parade. I just worry when I see stuff like this cause I know my dad went through it with his comic collection and my parents swore they'd never do that to mine.
If this was just run of the mill AEC stuff then I'd just say it happens all the time, but when a big ticket item like Shadow Commander is in a garage sale, then I want to think the kid knew what he had. 3rd party stuff is not something you just buy anywhere so it's odd for it to show up in a garage sale.
