Anyhow, what I usually do is put the blade in between two heavy books, and leave it for a couple days. If you're in a warmer climate, prepare to do this a lot.

I have read that this changes the chemicals in the plastic. I don't know if it's true.
Lodge it between some things that will hold it bent as far in the opposite direction for an hour or so (if it curves to the left, hold it bent to the right). When you release it, it will be bent in the other direction but will straighten after a while. If you leave him posed with the sword held horizontally and flat it will bend under its own weight.

not saying its not possible, I just cant see how it would. I have done it with several TF parts as well as Masters of the Universe Classics weapons with no problems.

No, the plastic won't change chemically, but you might burn it with actual boiling water.
Do the same trick, but use a hair dryer on high heat about 12" away for 30 seconds, the place in ice cold water or the freezer.

I have done that too. When doing the boiling method you have to make sure not to let the plastic not touch the pot. I use slotted spoons or whatever else works.
