Because They look cool on Thunderclash here, and I bet they would still look cool on my Optimus Prime. Once I get some extra spending money there's a few Shapeways things I'd like to get.

I hadn't even considered that, oddly enough... I might have to get another set for my own Classics Prime! I'll separate them and upload them to Shapeways soon.

Well, he's not 100% done, but I put Thunderclash back together and am VERY happy with the results...

Especially fond of how dynamically he can be posed, and of how well the light piping's worked out. I'll transform him over the weekend maybe, once the paint's had a while to cure properly.

Wow, man. That set really came together. I'll admit, I was skeptical about turning such an obviously Optimus mold into anything but an Optimus. But the pieces and the paint have really convinced me.

Now if, instead of simply selling the arm blasters separately, you were to make an APEX armor set for Optimus, I would be all over that like Jabba on a green-skinned slave-girl. Just sayin'.

Thanks! The head, chest, and slightly alternate transformation make quite a big difference, I feel. Plus, the original Thunderclash was obviously the "totally-not-a-Prime" of his toyline...

As for Apex Armour, could be fun but it would also be a huge job and expensive to print, alas...

He looks fantastic!

My only complaint is the chest plate. Having it as bare WSF makes it look ever so slightly off compared to the white painted parts. I'd suggest painting it (unless it already is painted and I'm being a dimwit).

No name-calling, but it is already painted.

I tried priming a previous iteration grey, and then painting white over that, but I didn't like the look either... Hoping that once I paint the chest symbol green and add the Autobrand it will look okay.

Ah right. Derp! Must be the texture messing with me. And yeah I reckon once the symbol is painted green and the insignia is on it'll look much better.

Unfortunately, the white paint on white plastic is less opaque than the painted parts, so it does look quite different, especially under bright light.

Very unflattering photos, but she isn't an airbrushed pinup model.

Vehicle mode is at least a passable compromise between her comic design and not having her chest be a horrible mess of greebly joints.

Unfortunately, I need to tweak a joint so that she can lock together properly in Vehicle mode... See that foot? It's meant to be able to bend enough to tab like that onto the forearm.

My MtMtE custom gang is shaping up pretty well though!

Oh, and Triggerhappy seems cool but he's not in MtMtE so he doesn't count.

So, for the curious, I intend to try and get Nautica and Thunderclash both up for sale by the end of the weekend, having made a few small tweaks to their models based on these test prints.

So, my femmebot collection is now so large it needed a bigger shelf. Which is a wonderful thing to be able to say.

Too tired to write much, but pleased with how she looks. Intend to get her on sale sometime this week, ended up having a busier weekend than planned.

PS: Alt Mode pics tomorrow sometime once the paint's cured more.
