Gigan was a very poorly used monster. For a design as kickass as his, the movies he was in were fairly weak. Final Wars didn't fair much better. 2 appearances and both times he ended up losing body parts.
I tend to enjoy anything from the 80's forward. The camp factor was turned waaaaay down after the 1984 reboot, though it slowly inched back up.

Which one? There's like five or six different ones out there, but I assume you mean the "Ultimate Godzilla Collection" from Classic Media. I got it for Christmas, and it is very, very sweet. I now have finally seen every Godzilla movie yet made(save for the unnofficial "Star Godzilla" from Hong Kong or something). Now all I have to do is acquire "Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah" on VHS or DVD and Godzilla '98 someday and I'll have a version of every movie on tape or DVD, even if some of those are off TV. Plus, I'm on a Godzilla kick again.
Unfortuneately, there are three Godzilla movies that have yet to make the jump to Region 1 DVD: Godzilla vs. Megalon, Godzilla 1985, and Godzilla vs. Biollante.
I really wish Godzilla 1985 would come out on DVD proper, because I've read they messed with it a lot for the American version, and the Darkhorse Graphic Novel I have, which is a direct translation of the manga based on the original Japanese movie is only a decent substitute. I guess my main beef with it is the addition of the Cold War stigma they added to it. Even though I was born in '85, I can understand why they changed it to make it look like the Russian launched the missile, but that doesn't make it right.

I love Godzilla, it may interest you to know that I actually come from his lineage.
Gator things aside, I really do love that big green bugger, the movies, the comics, if I had the room and extra cash I would collect the merchandise too. As it is I'm thinking about doing a Godzilla style Trypticon repaint for fun.
I purchased to Marvel "essential Godzilla" trade a while back and it's a lot of fun.
I particularly like the newer movies recently too (Godzilla 2000 and later).
I should dig up my original Godzilla movie, I love the very first one, it's got such a sense of awe about it.
