The Matrix only works when the fate of the universe is in peril. It wouldn't work against a good-willed opponent. I don't say it wouldn't work against Shin Getter Robot 1 though. But in this case OP wouldn't have the time to get the matrix out of his check in time.

As much as I thought I only wanted Optimus to get backhanded by Megatron, I think Grendizer can take this.

Unless were talking DWs G1 Prime who feeds of the matrix like Bane does venomroids.

side note: DC and Marvel should do a Banom cross over since Eddie is not around, or have a bloody Joker (as Carnage) mini series.

Nop. It's cartoon Prime. I think on this one his oply advantages are speed and reflex time. Seeing how Grendizer is piloted with all those big sticks, buttons and voice commands (Probably just for show) this might be an important factor. With enough precision Prime can probably pierce a weak spot and disable Grendizer. But he has to do it before Fleed launches more devestating attacks. I guess a battle against a Gestalt would have been more enjoyable.

According to my memory of 10-15 years ago, Grendizer was bigger and had more weapons.

I would have allowed Prime his powermaster form but PM Prime, while being G1, is not really Optimus Prime.

Still I think Prime has a chance to win thins. He doesn't have the upper hand, but still he could take advantage of Grendizer's slower reaction time.

The Autobot Matrix of Leadership is a bloody plot device that's act as the foil to Unicron, and it's a fragment to Primus, who's like a diety in the Transformers Universe. Just opening the Matrix just tears Unicron apart literally proves that it's a deus ex machina for the Autobots to save the day. Given the nature of that said plot device, Optimus Prime would straightout wins should he allows to use the Matrix. Prime could use the creation Matrix to bring life to Shin Getter Robo which would then no doubt eject the pilot out of the cockpit, and kill the pilot.

Please, like all overpowered super robots Shin getter robo is powered by a plot device energy source. The getter rays are a sentient energy source that drives all evolution in the multiverse.
