Resident Evil 1, 2 and 3 had their moments. AvP 2 and Doom 3 on the PC also.
The one that really made me skid my undies was Silent Hill 2.
If there was ever a game that needed to be remade for the HiDef gen it's Silent Hill 2.

Leave it to Dead Metal to have the word 'Pronz' in his signature.

There is a remake of the first one coming out on the Wii.

Wow that will really be in HiDef and will look sooo different from the original release.

HiDef graphics are over rated, and the original Silent Hill was on PS1 so it will look sooo much better.

The latest Tomb Raider managed it a couple of times with the Giant squid tentacles too.
I will admit though that I've not really touched the Survival horror genre much apart from RE 2 and 3.

I'll never forget the first time the Nemesis crashed through the window of the Police Station. It seemed like the Nemesis could show up anywhere at any time, and he followed you from room to room. His theme music was scary, too.

Yeesh, that is bad. L4D isn't even scary to me at night. At all.mcart01y327 wrote:...and...I love Halo to death, but I hate it when the Flood comes around. My parents have to run up the stairs to see why I'm screaming so loud.
In Halo 1, the Flood were scary, at first. And only on my first play through, when I had no idea what was happening. (Great level the first time around, actually) In Halo 2, they were less scary, muh less scary. By Halo 3, they were not scary, just aggravating.
I guess Zombies don't actually scare me...oh, wait.
Half-Life 2. The Zombies, while lacking any real damage dealing ability, have one unique power: They have the power to make me happy to see the Combine. Ravenholm is difficult not because you die, but because you're more that likely to say "Okay, I would like to stop playing now this level is creepy."
Ol' fashion regular Zombies are fine, if not a bit creepy, and dangerous if they gang up on you and get too close. Fast Zombies...something that looks like that, coming at you at such speed, screaming like that, creepy as hell. And the Toxic Zombies...it occurred to me recently that I've never gotten a good close-up look at a Toxic Zombie because they creep me right the hell out. Toxic Headcrabs are just as bad, they used to make me freeze up entirely. (Not so much anymore) I will actually pour explosives into an area where I know a Toxic Zombie will be simply to avoid getting close to one.
