Just got my MP Grimlock and absolutely love him. just curious if anyone has trouble with the gimmick? mine seems to be rather well crap, other then that stands great, poses well and looks great with my G1 kup. anyway just curious if anyone has had a similar issue.

edit: the TRU special offer at the moment means you get a recon ravage when you spend over $75 so if you in aus and thinking of grabbing one, do it youll get a free figure as well.

Which gimmick are you talking about? The head turning one didn't work too well on my Takara one.

Yeah the tail gimmick doesn't really work for me either. The Snapping one works fine for me. The Mouth just has to be open.

Also I'm guessing this TRU offer is online only? I didn't see anything advertising it when I bought my Grimlock today.

its actually an Australian in store offer from the catalogue TRU has out at the moment (in Perth WA but maybe eastern states as well). Regrettably the TRU online store doesnt let you order transformers :s

The jaw snaps shut when you squeeze his head.

He looks up when you press him down so his thigh joints slide.

His head turns when you move the tail.

All of these work ok on mine but they're pretty pointless.

It's just not something that keeps me entertained for long. It's like "huh, it moves something else" and that's it. I'd rather they'd put more effort into the shoulder joints.

Quite honestly, for me anyway, if its a Masterpiece I don't really need a gimmick. I don't have one single problem with spending my money on quality. For my Masterpieces, I'd rather have an outstanding mold that does justice to the character it displays, that is constructed well, and transforms nice. No gimmicks required.

I would glad sacrifice all of the gimmicks that Grimlock came with for a bit better contruction and stability. In fact, I would go so far as to say keep the gimmicks and give me some die-cast. Then I'd pay whatever they wanted and I'd be happy about it.

I think Masterpiece figures should focus on quality and detailing, not gimmicks. Especially since gimmicks usually break sooner or later, and Masterpieces should be built to last.

The only gimmick that doesn't work on mine really well, is the autobot symbol in the chest-one; I don't know, but it doesn't seem to slide all the way up.

The other that is pretty pointless, is the light-up weapons. Instead of that, a Jurassic-Park-level T-rex cry sound gimmick would have ben awesome, and the finger movement wouldn't have hurt, either (although it is better this way, with the left hand holding the weapons essentially on a small, painfully breakable-looking peg...)

Other than these, I just love the figure and the details! When I got it, I didn't want to open it, it just looked too beautiful in the package - I'm glad I did open it, the robot mode IS a Masterpiece.

I love both versions Takara and Hasbro. I have my Hasbro one displayed with my classics and he fits very nicely with them.

Any chance you can pop up a pic of this? That's exactly what I planned to do, but haven't gotten Grimlock yet (my friend has him for me but I haven't picked him up yet).

As I noticed, the Hasbro version has Die-cast "pants", dino toes, and possibly the shoulder connectors.

I just got Grimlock today. Been comparing him with a few movie figures, Alternators and G1 figures. He looks pretty cool with a lot of them. Was surprised that 07 movie leader Prime was a wee bit bigger than MP Grimlock but not by much. He's big and imposing.

I'm not going to be buying any TF's for a while with that $75 price tag but he's a great figure and I'm glad I got him. Most of his gimmicks on mine work fine but the tail/neck movement could be a little better.

Correct on all fronts, including the shoulder connectors. It's the same diecast content as the Takara version.

He's a great figure. That price stung a bit but I think he was worth it. Some people have been turned off by how simple the transformation is but I think it made for a pretty solid robot mode. The detailing on him is fantastic.

Ok.

So after I watched the Bears trash the Cowboys (Da Bears), I got out my MP Grimlock.

My 6 mth old could have cared less. I think it was because he didn't walk like Trypticon.

Dad however, was thrilled. Looks good and poseable in dino mode.

Seems to have good articulation and pose-ability in robot mode as well. Hip joints aren't particularly tight like some have mentioned, but did not seem to cause any issues it seems on mine when trying different pose's. Kinda scary transforming the legs from robot to dino mode, so be careful there if u haven't opened yours yet. It's a little scary first time thru but once u get it figured out its not so bad

All the gimmicks work, but they don't matter to me in all honesty, I do like being able to have the blue eyes though.

What I can tell u, if you are on the fence for this guy, by all means go pick him up. I really don't think u will be disappointed whatsoever.

I mean seriously, we have a Masterpiece Grimlock for crying out loud. It is G1 Grimlock with awesome action details

Less crying, more buying before he is gone and this version costs 140$ too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree....gimmicks really bore the **** outta me and i've NEVER encountered one that adds to a figure or stokes me. For very long at least. Twisting gears and super punch action crap really is meaningless.
The gimmick concept i can certainly live without for better quality or designs.
Although i do like the eye color change over on MP Grimmy. Well...it's more an option than a gimmick really.
