He's really cool, but honestly I would rather him be the size of a regular titan at the most. It's not like he scales with anything, what's the point in making him so big? I'd settle for an updated Supreme class size tbh.

For a time, I considered sparing your wretched little HasLab Project, but now you will witness its dismemberment. For this price, it should have at least be TWICE this size or at least have some electronics. The barge WAS twice this size and 75.00 less. If it's going to be this size then it should have voice clips of Orson Wells. Hell, for this price and small size, they should dig Orson out of his grave and have him come to your house and say all of his lines every time you play with it!

That's an EXCELLENT point frogbat! 19 flippin pounds of plastic and some metal in there (springs screws)?! Almost TWICE the size and more complex than the previous Unicron? Still less than the latest MP Optimus Prime? Yeah, justified in my book too!
If I can spend $400+ on one figure in my life it would be this guy, hands down, double rainbow, no takebacks. And that includes G1 Liokaiser

Exactly. As far as this "complexity" some people are seeing (second hand, from a handful of pics). His wings twist around to form his Planet rings and his planet mode Shell is on the back of his calves and his backpack as kibble, just like his other toys. He is highly detailed, but the transformation looks very similar.

I can't buy the New MP prime for 400... Lol but this I would drop the extra cash for. I feel no real need to replace my MP10 but this over the old Unicron toy seems like a big upgrade to my display. Very excited for this. To justify it I'll just buy a few less waves of Marvel Legends at full retail.

$400 for an MP Optimus that will get a 2nd or 3rd reissue or $575 for a most likely single release and not to have regret and have to pay scalper prices. I'm in!
I agree the timing is horrible. March or April would have been better especially with tax returns.

Waaay not enough spikes and they are just in a straight line and not scattered like in the concept art. And the colors are too bright. And the pieces the ring consists of have too many hollow cavities and not enough texturing.
But as I see the pegs for the effect parts in his face I think it will look awesome if you pose him with a lot of other figures attacking him and scattering the effect parts all over him

Well, he looks impressive, the planet mode is especially cool. But given how much space and money he'll devour (£450! 27"!) for rather spartan paint detailing and, by the looks of it, very little actual features beyond "being a really, really big transforming Unicron", he's a hard pass. Not that I could justify such a ludicrous purchase anyway, but if he had all that detail picked out with paint like, say, the Energon version (not necessarily in those colours, nice as that would be) and had loads of opening compartments and inner details like a big transforming articulated playset, I'd...well, I wouldn't buy him but I would want to buy him.
As it is, I have a horrible feeling this isn't going to make the goal. The Sail Barge only just got funded IIRC, and between the absurd price and the fact it honestly doesn't look that good...yeah.
The mouth gimmick is very cool though. No complaints there.

Around a month's pay for a figure that's only a couple of inches taller than the current largest Transformer ever? As much as I like Unicron, thanks but no thanks. I would've settled for Unicron as just a normal Titan around the same size as Metroplex or Fort Max.

That's the thing. We've discussed a potential new Unicron before. He doesn't need to be bigger than Fort Max. His altmode will bulk him out so he looks bigger regardless and as others have already noted, he won't scale with anything, so that aspect doesn't matter either.

I think what people aren't taking into account is that this is probably the only MP Style Unicron we will ever get, even though it's under the "War For Cybertron" toyline. While it doesn't need to be said, there's no way of making a Unicron figure in scale with the MP's, so the next logical step would be to put this guy with their G1 line of WFC, at a much reduced scale, granted. I think it's completely and totally worth it for people who can (barely) afford to pay it and who also enjoy that character to an unhealthy extent.
Also, I was reading Thew's post on it, and I got to thinking that if anyone knows people across the pond who want this, they could order it for them and then ship it over when/if it arrives.

They wont lower the price but they will put it in production, thats what its all about.
Also, we forget that Hasbro is only half of the brand, Takara can take this design and produce it as well on their end for their Japanese market.
