Time?

Free entertainment? Wha?

Seibertron.com is NOT charity. The site isn't up b/c someone feels sorry for me or the bored fandom... :-B

In addition, it wouldn't be hard to imagine this nifty little site pulling in some sort of revenue or other such benefits. Look at your sidebar if you don't belive that.

Mad? Not even close. Disappointed? Hell yea. I think alot of this site. In fact, it's the ONLY TF related site I visit. *period*

Am I not allowed to express my disappointment?

Again, not necessarily an accurate science, but if the site CAN make money, then it SHOULD.

SO, in your opinion, Ryan should be charging posters in order to make profit?

Ok, you can pay him if you want, but this is a free internet discussion forum not a company.

Isn't it strange that the posters stating that this was a waste of their time it is the first post of theirs that I have seen in this thread?

I don't know if you were guessing or not, but if you weren't then why do you care that it wasn't something larger than what it turned out to be?

First posts? Yea, I guess it is funny, b/c you're wrong. :-?

I posted waaaaay back among the first pages. Regardless, what relevance is that?

This whole crap of beating up on people who intellegently argue their opinions is pretty sad. Don't you guys have any trolls you can go flame?

Whatever was intended by this thread/promotion has obviously produced MIXED results based on the various opposing views seen here.

As far charging for the site? I suppose that is up to the discretion of the site owner. This would NOT be the first MESSAGE FORUM to do so should that decision be made.

In any event, I didn't even state that users should be charged, simply that this isn't charity, nor is this site incapabale of bringing in any deserved revenue.

In closing, chill the heck out people, and get off my back.

I say that whoever was a nay sayer if this little adventure in Mod Torture should have their account made so they can't view the silly gallery :P. Or get a picture of Wheelie replacing all the shots of Ramulus.

You know now with all this hype/anger from people almost everyone will view this upcoming gallery at least once. And a lot of people will remember this gallery because of said hype/anger. I say that is actually worth it. But thats my two cents...

But it would probably be the first one that revolves around Transformers, and would probably be a legal minefield.

I look at it this way, Ryan's created this site for himself to host his galleries and such. He's opened it up to others so that he can share his obsession with Transformers for others.

Was I disappointed in what this was? Yes. Is there a point in jumping up and down about it? No.

bah weep granna weep mini bon
(late to the game, figured I'd be formal)

So wait, 'He' is just this extremely rare repaint? Well that's cool, but what's this Wreckers comic all about? Who does it and where can I read it? I got all pent up like some people over this Cloverfield project malarky. Anyways I think it's cool that there's a mountain goat painted kinda like Springer with a comic book calleed Wreckers and the fact that Springer could jump really high per his Marvel comics profile and...and...I read too much into stuff. Also cool to see some extremely rare toys.

Then you subtract the cost of keeping the site up and running, the bandwidth cost, the galleries, the camera he uses, and the various other expenses...Ryan doesn't make much.

I think he once said he made like $12.50 from the site. Don't quote me on that though.

The site pays for my personal bills every month, which is why I am able to re-invest into my hobby to bring you guys galleries of so many of the figures. However, if you take the number of hours that I spend working on the site (about 30 - 50 hours per week), it doesn't break down to very much per hour. Better than minimum wage but no where near what I get paid at my day job as an IT Consultant. A site this large is far more work than most of you realize.

Also, it's OK that you guys are disappointed with the Ramulus gallery after all that hype. Heck, I was disappointed and I was the one working on the gallery.

I have a very awesome gallery that is most definitely worthy of the title "He is coming ..." that I will be posting here shortly. I only let all of you think Ramulus was the main highlight because I have a twisted sense of humor. I wouldn't let you guys get all worked up about something without giving you something pretty damn cool in return.

For all of the people bitching about the fact that the gallery ended up being "a repaint" I see 10 more that think its cool and the "game" was worth it. All the staff and mods did was drop some clues, everyone else that posted on the topic made it the hype that it was. We still have people guessing even when it was revealed 20 pages ago so who is building it up to be something so great? Just because 15 people think it was a waste of time doesnt mean the other 200 that posted on here think the same.

And also this site is somewhat of a charity, It is maintained by a group of people that do this of their own free will and with no sort of financial compensation. This site is purely for our enjoyance of the transformer brand and those things associated with. And im sure that if you ask Ryan he will tell you that this site is worth more than 97,000 dollars. For him to be able to share what he enjoys with others that dabble in the hobby it's probably priceless., To wait 20 years to see something you dreamed about as a kid come to life means more than "aww man that 1 guy doesnt like my repaint gallery, let me shut it all down".

I'm saying this last part to you specifically klozeminded-gi. Never have I seen a screen name that was more appropriate and fitting when it comes that the particular persons posts.

Mods if you feel this is too much lemme know, if not then cool.

I would never part with this site for a measely $100k which would barely pay for the amount of time I've put into this site over the past 7 years, not to mention the personal sacrifices that I have made to keep this site going. 100 times that plus keeping me on the staff as the lead programmer/photographer plus an annual salary and then we could talk. Everything's for sale at the right price.

Heh. I get the reference.

I was a late-comer to the thread, but I started reading it from the begining so I wasn't one of those "OMG! It's Cybertron Spawn!" posters. Somewhere along the line I started thinking Liege Maximo...then someone posted that page from TF of Liege Maximo, and I got my hopes up. I thought with all the hype, it would've been someone big like that.

Hooray for Seibertron, though, for getting an exclusive.

I don't think I jumped up or down about anything. I think I simply expressed that I was disappointed.

I didn't flame anyone, didn't loose my cool, i just stated that it was a letdown.

That's it. No big deal.

Those flipping out would be those who can't accept that not everyone thought it was the bee's knees. ;)

Neko,
If 12 bucks was all he could get, then it was a well deserved 12 bucks, and I hope he bought Movie Concept Bumblebee with it to sell on eBay for like a hundred bucks.

The thing is that it looked like a comic promo. It looked like a big Transformers event, not a photogallery for a repaint that none of us will even be able to get.

And for a basically forgotten third-tier character no less.

It's still a gallery for a toy most of us won't get.

Thanks for the gallery, but ung... I was remembering the Stormbringer promo.

I'd rather have a payoff I can hold in my hands.

First off, Omegawrath, there is an edit button to edit a post and add more text so please try not to triple post from now on.

Secondly, given that this thread went for 75 pages, it was discovered quite early that it was going to be a gallery of a figure, the question on most of our minds was which figure.

Ahh the last minute switchero!

Were the mods even aware of this?

Now listen up all you grumply bums and whiners, enough nay-saying. I myself may have been dissapointed that the mystery didn't turn out like I liked, but...

Big But.

At the end of the day if Seibertron is to be the ultimate transformers resource then it needs to have these galleries. Like we were told this will make the site unique, something no other site has.

So at the end of the day, quite whining and start wineing!

*hic*
