Thanks for the feedback guys!
I think I'm going to stick with this head only modify the front part of the helment so it comes up to the cheeks. When I do it this time, I'll use styrene instead of the sulpty to give it a more symetrical look. Also I think I'm going to slim down the sides of the helmet by making more of a curve transitions from the top of the helmet to the bottom.
Also have some alt mode pics.

I dunno what it is, but is the alt. mode missing something? I know I should look at page for the pic but I am just a lazy bastard.)

Something like the main gun barrel, perhaps?

I can't wait to see this thing finished. All it'll need is an HoS Bumblbee being crushed under its foot. (What can I say? I was never a Bumblebee fan.)

Napjr wrote:Yeah, the main problem with the head, is the proportions of the face, and maybe the neck, dont forget that practically no TF from HasTak as ever got a real neck
Look at this diagram
My suggestio? start with the head without helmet, at a similar size of the final thing, then once the proportions are done, start to make the helmet over it
I got to admit but that does look great Nap.
Lobo, my only suggestion is to not be afraid for some thing to look smaller then they are. Your head ribs go by 4 lines and the picture depicts 3. Sand down one section of the bottom of the head and refit it. The head might look a bit smaller on the body afterwards but the head is suppose to look small in compared to the body. He's suppose to look Brute-ish.
Other then that, now seeing the head closer up, it does look great...it just looks bad at a distance wich I think will be rectified once it's painted and the silver of the face will stand out more on the black of the helmet.
Good luck buddy! We're ganna have some great entries this year!

That is a good point! If you cover the bottom ridge in the pic with a finger the head looks much more natural.

Great lion of Zion, this is f'n amazing. My only complaint is also with the too-small face. But the rest makes up for it. Simply incredible.

Looking better and better with each pic, lobo. This will really turn out to be great.
(Guido will no doubt wet his pants when he sees this.)
Gotta admit that I agree that the head is slightly off. Especially considering the magnificence of the rest. The face is too small and the helmet too thick. But that's the only minor point that could be better.
(Just realized, if you look at the side pics, that in this incarnation Megatron seems to have umbrella's (?) to protect him from the sun like women at the time had

Lobo, this piece is really looking sharp!
The head is coming along as well. Just an observation I thought I'd point out: while Megatron's head doesn't have a removable helmet, I'd imagine that when Megs was constructed, the "helmet"-like piece of his head was put on top of the head. While Megs has never been able to confortably detach it, this assembly would be crutial in terms of design (drawing and sculpting).
If you look at Guido's original illustration, you can see that he has this in mind when he illustrated Megs. The "helmet"-like piece (despite not being able to detach) would still sit on top of his head like a helmet.
While I'm not sculpting heads right now, when I draw TFs, I always have this in mind. I'll draw the head first and then if the TF has a helmet-type head, I'll draw that on top of the head. This way it appears as if the face is underneath the piece, creating more depth.
I hope this helps you when you approach the head sculpt again. I can't wait to see Megs here finished!

Ok, everything on this guy is amazing. About the face though, I really like your first one a LOOOOTTT more. Reason: the picture you're basing everything on has some crazy perspective going on, and the new head is based on distortion. The camera angle of the drawing is from about the hight of the top of the knee shooting up at his face, so you see a super tiny head because it is so far away.
If you put the first one of your heads back on your scratchbuild, and then stand him on the edge of the table, then kneel down with the camera and shoot up from that perspective you might see what I mean. The only thing I would change to that head to make it a little closer to the drawing would be (if you have room) to take the sideburns of the helmut down a little further, maybe one more rung/plate line. the perspective of the drawing has them down the whole way to the chest, but I'm thinking that wouldn't be possible toy wize, and also, the face looks higher up in the helmut because the plates are further infront of the face/ slightly closer to the camera, so you can see more of his neck.

Hearing that is about the closest to a "warm-fuzzy" feeling as I could possibly get. There's hope for this generation yet.
Stick to your guns! You have good taste.
